What is a European University ?
European Universities are transnational
alliances that will lead the way towards the
universities of the future,
promotingEuropean values and identity,
and revolutionising thequality and
competitiveness of European higher
education.

What is EELISA ?
European Engineering Learning Innovation and Science Alliance(EELISA)is the first
alliance of Higher Education Institutions (graduate engineering schools, technology
universities and full-spectrum universities) from different countries in Europe meant to
define and implement a common model ofEuropean engineerrooted in society.
EELISA’sacronym also pays a tribute to women engineers through the memory ofElisa
Leonida Zamfirescu(1887 –1973), one of the very first women to obtain an
engineering degree in the world. She also embodied the core elements of EELISA
Alliance: she had a multi-cultural and cross-border background, contributed to
engineering with innovative methods for the analysis of minerals and had a
determined social commitment.

This slide is taken from Dana Gheorghe's presentation at the EELISA InnoCORE OS Working Meeting on 10 November 2022.

EELISA tools on Open Science
11
The Open Science Methodological Toolkit
«The goal of theOpen Science Methodological Toolkitis
to provide concrete input for stimulating EELISA partner
universities to embrace Open Science, and help them
design policies and strategies and to engage in open
collaboration practices. Its primary mission is to assist
university leadership, policymakers but also
stakeholders, academic department chairs, researchers,
in developing or reinforcing Open Science by showcasing
good practice examples from within Alliance as well as
from other stakeholders.»

The Strategic Planning and Implementation Guide
«TheStrategic Planning and Implementation
Guidebuilds on the findings and roadmap developed in
the OS Methodological Toolkit (see above). The Guide
suggests a non-prescriptive, multi-stage process and
specific actions to be taken in the adoption and
acknowledgement of Open Science. The OS Strategic
Planning and Implementation Guide aims to assist HEIs
leaders and teams in charge of designing and
implementing OS strategy by offering them a
comprehensive set of descriptors to guide the process, a
suggested journey towards the full adoption of OS and
examples of best practices.»

EELISA innoCORE WP3 Upcoming Actions
13
Open Science Ambassadors Network. The Network of OS Ambassadors will be an informal structure made
of OS experts aimed at raising awareness on OS matters.
Rewarding excellence in Open Science. The approach is designed to propose, explore and pilot Open
Science incentives and rewards, based on new peer review methodologies and Next Generation Metrics,
for joint use by EELISA.
Innovative Distributed Open Science Training. It will be the main tool for sharing digital training content
and for organizing the training programmes.

EELISA Communities
14
https://community.eelisa.eu/
It is EELISA’s goal to extend higher education in EELISA
institutions from teaching and learning to the proposal of
solutions to current socio-technial challenges. EELISA
addresses this mission by building and growing EELISA
Communities in which students, researchers, faculty and staff
members from all institutions as well as external stakeholder
are jointly active to solve their mission.
The EELISA Community platform provides a pivotal
environment and central tool to create EELISA ecosystems.
On this platform, all EELISA Communities can promote their
mission and communicate, coordinate and disseminate their
educational, research and third mission activities.

EELISA Open Science Community
16
https://community.eelisa.eu/communities/open-science-community/
Our aim is to empower research, education and innovation through
open science practices to increase efficiency and productivity in light
of the EU’s open science policy. We want to bring together and work
with all beneficiaries, stakeholders and experts to ensure society gets
the most out of science through the policies, strategies and tools
developed by EELISA to be part of the open science ecosystem.
One of the main activities of this Comunity will be to advocate and
raise awareness of open science through organized events at all levels
(workshops, information days, panels, etc.) and to support open
collaboration with potential multi-participant projects.
