Creation of Barrier Free Environment To provide barrier free environment for the persons with disabilities which include access to built environment in schools, colleges, academic and training institutions, offices and public buildings, recreational areas, health centres / hospitals etc. Also to make Government websites at the Centre / State and District levels accessible to PwDs as per guidelines for Indian Government website issued by NIC and Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (D/o AR&PG), Government of India.
Unique Disability ID (UDID “Unique ID for Persons with Disabilities” project is being implemented with a view of creating a National Database for PwDs , and to issue a Unique Disability Identity Card to each person with disabilities. The project also helps in stream-lining the tracking of physical and financial progress of beneficiary at all levels of hierarchy of implementation – from village level, block level, District level , State level and National level.
Research on Disability related Technology, Products and Issues under SIPDA Scheme The Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities had launched a central sector scheme on “Research on disability related technology, products and issues‟ in January, 2015. The main objectives of this scheme is to promote research in prevention and prevalence of disability and the application of science & technology for the development of indigenous, appropriate aids and appliances. From the year 2019-20, it has become a part of the “Scheme for Implementation of Rights of Persons’ with Disabilities Act (SIPDA)”.
Cross-Disability Early Intervention Centres Early Intevention provides specialized support and services for infants and young children at – risk or with disability and/or development delay and their families to help their development, well-being and participation in family and community life. Initially, single-window Early Intervention Centres in 7 National Institutes and 7 Composite Regional Centres were set up as pilot basis and now 22 Cross-Disability Early Intervention Centres for Children with Disabilities (CDEIC) are operational across the National Institutes and Composite Regional Centre.
Project on Financial Support for Development of Accessible Learning Materials(DALM Project) under SIPDA Scheme Under the provisions of Section 17(g) of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016, a new Central Sector Scheme has been set up in the year 2014-15 to provide free books, other learning materials and suitable assistive devices to students with benchmark disabilities up to the age of 18 years. The scheme was launched with the objective of providing Braille text books and course material to visually impaired children up to class XII all over India, free of cost. From April 2022, the name of the scheme was changed to “Project for Financial Assistance for Braille Presses”.
Awareness Generation and Publicity (AGP) & In Service Training Objectives: The purpose of the Scheme is to create an enabling environment for social, economic and educational empowerment of Persons with Disabilities in all fields of life by disseminating information and sensitizing all stakeholders for ensuring equal opportunities, equity & social justice to enable confidence building in the PwDs so that they can contribute meaningfully and become equal partners in the development of the Nation.

INTRODUCTION The ADIP scheme was introduced in the year 1981 for the Persons with Disabilities and implemented by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Govt. of India.
INTRODUCTION Provision of suitable aids and assistive devices is one of the first steps in the process of rehabilitation of Persons with Disabilities ( PwDs ). As per Census, 2011 there are 2.68 crore PwDs in the India.
AIM OF THE SCHEME Assistive devices are given to PwD’s with an aim to improve their independent functioning, and to arrest the extent of disability and occurrence of secondary disability.
OBJECTIVE OF THE SCHEME The main objective of the scheme is to Assist persons with disability to obtain durable, sophisticated, and scientifically manufactured, good quality aids and appliances that can promote their physical, social and psychological rehabilitation, by reducing the effects of disabilities and enhance their economic potential.
Scope The Scheme will be implemented through the implementing Agencies . Agencies will be provided with financial the assistance for purchase, fabrication and distribution of such standard aids and appliances that are in conformity with the objectives of the Scheme.
The implementing Agencies The implementing Agencies will take care of and make suitable arrangements for fitting and post-fitting care of the aids and appliances distributed under ADIP Scheme. All National Institutes' , CRC , ALIMCO , DDRC, NGO ,recognized by Govt.
The Scheme shall also include essential surgical correction and intervention, prior to fitment of aids and appliances, as per the following norms: Rs.1500/- for speech & hearing impaired. Rs.3,000/- for visually impaired. Rs.15,000/- for orthopedically impaired.
ELIGIBILITY OF THE ADIP Scheme. An Indian citizen of any age. Aadhar card of PwD . UDID/Enrollment Number of PwD . Holds a 40% Disability Certificate. Has monthly income from all sources not exceeding Rs. 22,500/- per month. Who have not received assistance during the last 3 years for the same purpose from any source. However, for children below 12 years of age, this limit would be one year.
The amount of assistance will be as follows Beneficiaries fulfilling the above criteria can register to avail the benefits of the scheme.
