Seminar on Aerocon bricks
INTRODUCTION Aerocon bricks are Autoclaved Aerated concrete (AAC) blocks made with a mixture of cement, fly ash, lime, an aerated agent, and water, and it is z ero soil consumption. Prepared by : 1. fly ash and water are mixed together to form a slurry 2. heated and transferred to a high speed mixer 3. lime, cement, and aluminum powder are added 4. chemical reaction takes place small bubbles are formed ,and results in cellular or aircrete structure .
Types of aerocon bricks: Aerocon bricks are currently available in three sizes: Infill, Jumbo, and Thermal blocks. 1. Infill blocks : replace 60% of the concrete in roof slabs, saving significant amounts of concrete, steel, labor, water, plaster. suitable for building roofs in large column-free constructions .
2. Jumbo blocks: Usage of much fewer bricks and hence less mortar is required. These bricks are more suitable for non-load bearing walls , multi- storey buildings etc. 3. Thermal blocks: These blocks are ideal for roofing. Delay the transmission of heat flow. Interiors remain warm during winters and cool during summers.
Advantages: Eco friendly. Faster construction Light weight High thermal insulation Fire resistant Excellent sound reduction properties Water, termite and weather resistant Suitable for Seismic and cyclone prone zones Thin walls (space savings), smooth finishes and good workability.
