TRANSMISSION PATTERNS OF HIV/AIDS HIV/AIDS is a sexual disease and it is highly infectious. The following are the transmission patterns of this virus; Through blood for example during child birth, infected injections. Through breast milk to children. Contact with rectal fluids. Contact with vaginal fluids. Contact with semen(cum).

Signs and symptoms of HIV/AIDS There are many signs and symptoms of HIV/AIDS, NOT everyone will have the same. They depend on the stage of the virus. The virus has 3 stages. STAGE 1; ACUTE HIV INFECTION; Mouth ulcers. Recurring fever and hot flashes at night. Muscle aches. Rashes. Swollen lymph nodes. Fatigue Sore throat. The above occur within 2 to 4 weeks after infection. Sometimes referred to as a flu-like illness.

STAGE 2; CLINICAL LATENCY; In this stage the virus multiplies but still at low levels. And people in this stage may not feel too sick. This stage is also known as chronic HIV infection. It takes a period of 10 to 15 years if not treated though some people move through this period faster taking them lesser years. NB; In this stage signs and symptoms are similar to those in stage one.

STAGE 3; AIDS If HIV is not treated immediately, it results into AIDS due to the weakening of your immune system. Also known as the late stage of HIV. Rapid weight loss Pneumonia and sometimes tuberculosis Constant fever and night sweats. Sores in the mouth, anus and genitals. Extreme tiredness. Memory loss, depression and other neurologic disorders. Prolonged swelling of the lymph glands in the armpits and neck.

PREVENTION OF HIV/AIDS Abstinence by not having sex. Never share needles with everyone. Proper use of condoms when having sex. Prevent mother-to-child transmission.
