Meaning & Definition of Sports Training Sports training is the basic form of preparation of sports men for higher performance. Sports training is an organised and systematic instructional process of preparation of sports persons based on scientific principles which aims at improving and maintaining higher performance capacity in different sports activities. It is a particular type of training designed to improve fitness and abilities to perform in a given sport. It consists of four parts: Conditioning training (strength training, endurance training, flexibility training) Training of technique (technical preparation) Training of tactics (tactical preparation) Psychological training (Mental preparation)
Aims of Sports Training cont… The main aim of sports training is to prepare a sportsman for a highest possible performance in a main competition in a particular sports / event. Besides this following should be considered as the aims of sports training :- i . Improvement of physical fitness. ii. Acquisition of motor skills. iii. Warming up It is to prepare for physical activity or a performance by exercising or practicing gently before the event or competition. To prepare the sportsman or athlete physically and mentally for fourth coming event or competition. Benefits of Warming up The main purpose and benefit of warm up exercises is to slowly increase your heart rate. This increase in heart rate helps to raise your body temperature and to increase the blood flow to your muscles. This increase in blood flow properly oxygenates your muscles and prepares them for the upcoming more strenuous aerobic exercise. Hemoglobin (RBC) carries more oxygen. Nerve impulses (signals) become faster which improves sharpens the reaction time. Muscle contraction becomes faster which becomes faster the viscosity is lowered. The injuries minimized. Due to physiological adaptation physical work capacity is increased.
Cooling down Cooling down (also known as limbering down or warming down) is an easy exercise, done after a more intense activity, to allow the body to gradually transition to a resting or near-resting state. Cooling down allows the heart rate to return to its resting rate. Any exercise sessions must start with warm up and end with cool down to avoid joint and muscular injury.
