Components and Working Principles ! 1. Microbial fuel cell (MFC) The working principle of MFC is to utilize microbesmetabolize the medium forcatalyzes the conversion of organic matter into electrical energy by transferring electrons from the anode through a wire, generates current to the cathode.
2. Mangrove Materials 3. Sea Water
Principles of Technology The principle of this technology is the Microbial Fuel Cell Technology which utilizes microbial activity so that the electrons obtained from the sediment will flow freely from the anode to the cathode so that a direct (DC) electric current is obtained. This study uses a single chamber system which is connected in series. The electrodes to be used are carbon fiber (carbon cathode made like cloth) to expand the contact surface with mangrove sediments and aluminum plates because they are more resistant to high salt-containing materials. The container that is formed is a hexagonal or a hexagon and will be divided into six parts
Test Results and Prototype The research results obtained from the electrical test of mangrove sediments with a mixture of sea water 5% (w / v) in a container with an area of 0.009625 m2, can be seen in table 4.1 .
Conclusion 1. The working principle of the Microbial Fuel Cell is to utilize microbes that metabolize the medium in the container to catalyze the conversion of organic matter into electrical energy by transferring electrons from the anode through a wire, producing a current to the cathode. 2. Utilization of mangrove sediments as electrical energy will reduce negative impacts as a substitute for energy derived from fossil or petroleum which causes climate change due to CO 2 which pollutes the atmosphere. 3. Power Plant utilizing mangrove sediment is a renewable energy innovation integrated with a smartphone application that can regulate, monitor and control the use of electricity used. DGMAMEN is an application equipped with 2-way communication capabilities and smart sensors
