In1987,theUnitedNationsBrundtlandCommissiondefinedsustainabilityas“meetingtheneedsofthepresentwithoutcompromisingtheabilityof
futuregenerationstomeettheirownneeds.”
HinduMythologydepictsfivebasicelementsofnaturenamely PRUTHVI(Land),AGNI(Energy&Light),JAL(Water),VAYU(Air)andAAKASH
(Atmosphere).Sustainabilitybeginswithpreservationofthesebasicelements.Further,elementslikefoodsecurityandecologicalbalancearealso
consideredinsustainability.
Sustainabilityhasbeencrossingboundariesinallareasofsociety.Governmentsandorganizationsaroundtheworldaretakingmajorstepsin
creatingasocietythatfunctionsandprosperswithsustainability.Sustainabilityisallaboutlongtermpreservationofenergyandresourcesrather
thanconsumingthemincessantlyforsatiatingshort-termneeds.Itisnotanadditionalexpenditure,ratheritisacriticalinvestmentareawhere
organizationscanrealizegenuinereturnsandopportunitiesforcompetitiveadvantage.

WeassurethatthemilkandmilkproductsmanufacturedatAmulFedDairyarefollowingmoststringentfoodsafetymanagementssystemstandards
andarecontributingtosafe,healthyandnutritionaldiettotheconsumers.Someoftheproductslikesugarfree,lowsugar,lowfat,lactosefree,high
proteinetc.tocatertothehealandnutritionneedsofspecificsegmentofconsumers.

Wearecontinuouslyworkingtoachievelowestpossiblewaterfootprintbyminimizingrawwaterdrawlfromlandandusingconceptsof“Reduce,
ReuseandRecyclewater”throughseveralimprovementmeasureslikewaterconservation,wastewaterrecycling,reuseofmilkcondensate,reuse
ofhomogenizersealcoolingandseparatorcoolingetc.WehavealsoadoptedrecyclingoftreatedeffluentofourEffluenttreatmentplantforinternal
usage.
WearedeployingFootprintingexerciseformeasuringGHGemissions,waterconsumption,wastegeneration,chemicalconsumptionacrossallthe
operationalfunctions.Severalenergyconservationinitiativesareencouragedinareasofheatregenerationactivities,boilerwasteheatregeneration
etc.whichhashugeimpactonGHGemissionsandenergyconservation.
Weareprioritizingonrenewableenergyusageandhaveinstalled1MWsolarrooftopPVsystemandrenewablepowercontributes2%oftotal
powerconsumption.Similarly,inthermalenergyfront,weareusingbiogasgeneratedfromoureffluenttreatmentplantinboiler.Biogascontributes
approximately5%ofourtotalthermalenergyconsumption.
Wehaveadoptedrainwaterharvestingandinstalledmorethan11wellsinthepremisestochannelizemorethan1,20,000klwaterduringmonsoon,
whichcontributes19%ofourannualwaterdrawl.Wearealsoplanningforcarbonneutralpremisesbycalculatingcarbonemissionsresultingfrom
ouroperationsandprocuringgreenenergyaswellasplantingrequisitenumberoftreestooffsetresidualcarbonemission.
Wearecommittedtosocialinclusionbygeneratingjobopportunitiesforskilledandunskilledmanpower.Weareconsideringhumanresourceas
essentialassetinourgrowthstoryandhenceweemploytalentedincumbentswithoutanydifferenceinsex,caste,creed,religion.Weprofessequal
opportunitytofemalesandarecreatingsafeandconduciveworkenvironmentforfemaleworkers.
AmulFedDairyisfollowingTotalQualityManagementphilosophyandchannelizeoureffortstowardssustainabledevelopmentthroughemployee
engagement,wasteeliminationandqualityconsciousness.
WeareadoptingLifecycleAssessmentapproachfordifferentproductstounderstanditsenvironmentalimpactacrossthevaluechain.Accordingly
severalmeasuresaretakenforcollectionandrecyclingofpostconsumptionflexibleplasticwastefromAhmedabadmarket,thusalsocomplyingthe
regulatoryrequirementofExtendedProducer’sResponsibility(EPR).
Wehaveidentifiedsustainabilitygoalsinourstrategicthrustareaandarecontinuouslyupgradingourperformancetoaccomplishthesame.Weare
hopefulthatAmulFedDairyshallbeabletoestablishleadershipinpursuingitsjourneytowardsCleaner,GreenerandSafeOrganisationinfuture.
