RETURNING HOME: ADJUSTMENT OF NEWLY RELEASED PROBATIONERS

SOP 1 What are the experiences of the probationers inside the correctional facility? RESULT 1 The probationers’ experiences were: a mixture of bad and good experiences. Therefore, rejecting the assumption that probationer has bad experiences inside the correctional facility. CONCLUSION 1 The researchers conclude that the probationers had experienced homesickness inside the correctional facility. However, through religious activities, they have a spiritual awakening, learn how to improve their personality, and enhance their social skills and life experiences in the facility. RECOMMENDATION 1 To improve the study, the researchers suggest that future studies expand their focus beyond just the experiences and challenges newly released probationers face as they adjust to society.

SOP 2 What are the challenges experienced by newly released probationers? RESULT 2 The challenge the probationers deal with most is discrimination, rejecting the assumption that finding a job is the challenge most probationers deal with. CONCLUSION 2 Some of the probationers experienced discrimination after serving sentences in prison, but assistance from family and friends helped them cope with the challenges. RECOMMENDATION 2 The researchers suggests promoting mental health campaigns for newly released probationers to provide information and raise awareness of their mental health status. This will help preparing the probationer and their families.

SOP 3 How do probationers deal with the challenges? RESULT 3 The probationers dealt with the challenges with support from their families and focusing on their job. Thus, accepting the assumption that probationers cope with the help of their family and friends. CONCLUSION 3 In conclusion, the experiences of probationers suggest that family and social support are crucial in their successful reentry into society. By relying on the support of their loved ones and focusing on their employment, probationers can overcome the challenges of reintegration and avoid recidivism. RECOMMENDATION 3 The researchers also recommend building a support group for newly released probationers. This group would provide understanding, support, and hope for probationers as they adjust to life outside of prison.

SOP 4 How do probationers adjust to the environment as newly released probationers? RESULT 4 The probationers adjusted to the environment by reuniting with friends and engaging in community services. With the social support received by the probationers from their community, most respondents did not have difficulty adjusting to their new environment. Hence refuse the assumptions that the probationers had difficulty adjusting to the new environment. CONCLUSION 4 By participating in various community events and reuniting with friends, the probationers established positive connections and contribute to society in a meaningful way. These activities also helped probationers build confidence, develop new skills, and establish a sense of purpose. RECOMMENDATION 4 It is recommended that community organizations and support systems prioritize opportunities for probationers to engage in various community activities and events. This could include volunteer work, recreational activities, and community service projects, among other activities.

SOP 5 What is the proposed program for the newly released probationers? RESULT 5 The proposed program for newly released probationers is access to mental health resources and livelihood programs. CONCLUSION 5 The researchers concluded that all probationers have the potential to change and return to their homes. The correctional facility positively impacts the probationers and provides them with the necessary skills to reintegrate into society. RECOMMENDATION 5 The researchers recommend that the local government unit (LGU) provide assistance or livelihood programs for newly released prisoners to help them reintegrate into the community. These can include job training, financial assistance, or other forms of support to help them get back on their feet.
