The moth it depicts is real. The death’s-head hawkmoth is a real moth found
primarily in Europe, and it appears to have a human skull on its back. This skull on
the backside of the moth covering _____ ______‘s mouth is actually a photo of
naked women from 1951, “In Voluptas Mors.” It was conceived of by X and was
shot by Philippe Halsman."IN VOLUPTAS MORS", in English meaning
"Voluptuous Death", is a surrealistic portrait whose original idea was based around
“Voluptas” being a character in Greek mythology, daughter of Eros and Psyche,
and goddess of “sensual pleasure”) within the physical constitutive structure of the
symbol of vanitas itself(the human skull). The image presents a fusion of eros
(erotic or sexual love) and thanatos (death) in a single object (therefore, in
voluptas mors — quite literally one finds “death in the voluptuous”).Altogether what
is being talked about here? Also identify X.

THE BARK that held a prince went down,
The sweeping waves roll’d on;
And what was England’s glorious crown
To him that wept a son?
He lived—for life may long be borne

Ere sorrow break its chain;
Why comes not death for those who mourn?—
He never smiled again!

These are the starting verses of the poem “He never smiled again” by Felicia
Dorothea Hemans.Which historical event is she referring to in this poem?
Also give me what the consequence of this event was.

The _______ was state-of-the-art for its time, and was the first one designed for
permanent use. It employed a heart-shaped pump that was implanted into the
patient. An external pneumatic compressor, connected to the pump by tubes
running through the chest wall, regulated blood flow. The major problem with these
devices – apart from the fact that the washing-machine–sized air compressor left
the patient virtually immobilized – was the threat of infection and associated
pulmonary problems. This had proven to be the Achilles' heel of every previous
__________ _____ used on both human and animal subjects. And so it would be
in Barney Clark's case. What is being talked about here?

Jarvik-7/Artificial heart

X is an upcoming Indian biographical drama, directed by H.E. Amjad Khan and
written by Bhaswati Chakraborty. Popular Indian television child actress Reem
Shaikh makes her film debut, playing the lead role of Y. The film also features the
late Om Puri (in his final film). The first schedule of the film was filmed at locations
in Bhuj (Gujarat) and Mumbai. The 2nd schedule of the film which was to be shot
in Kashmir was deferred due to the strained circumstances there. As the
conditions got back to normal in Kashmir, the shoot resumed in January 2018
amidst tight security in Ganderbal district of Kashmir. The shooting wrapped up by
end of January 2018 and the film has been in post-production since then. The film
has gone through extensive VFX work to re-create Swat Valley landscape and war
scenes between the Taliban and Pakistani Army. Further, the film was also in the
news linked to the twitter war that sparked off after Y posted a tweet expressing
concerns over the lockdown in Kashmir. Identify X and Y.

“The idea came up at the time when I was completely bereft of ideas. I’d been working on my own music for
a while and was quite lost, actually. And I really appreciated someone coming along and saying, Here’s a
specific problem — solve it.’
“The thing from the agency said, ‘We want a piece of music that is inspiring, universal, blah-blah, da-da-da,
optimistic, futuristic, sentimental, emotional,’ this whole list of adjectives, and then at the bottom it said ‘and
it must be 3.25 seconds long. I thought this was so funny and an amazing thought to actually try to make a
little piece of music. It’s like making a tiny little jewel.” These were the words of Brian Eno who is best
known for his pioneering work in ambient music and contributions to rock, pop, and electronica.
Eno soon became obsessed by this task, creating 84 different pieces of music.Ironically, Eno used a Mac
to create the piece, admitting to BBC Radio 4 in 2009 that “I’ve never used a PC in my life; I don’t like
them.” What piece is he talking about?

The production was centred around the Namibia’s second city, Swakopmund, at
the mouth of the Swakop River. Swakopmund stands at the southern end of the
dramatically named Skeleton Coast, the northern part of the Atlantic Ocean coast
of northern Namibia and southern Angola. Namibian bushmen once called the
region ‘The Land God Made in Anger’, while Portuguese sailors referred to it as
‘The Gates of Hell’. The Skeleton name is supposed to have been inspired by the
bleached bones of whales and seals, later becoming attached to the rusting hulks
of grounded ships. The director was determined to keep the rough, grimy
physicality of the original trilogy by keeping photographic trickery to the minimum,
though one wholly invented element is the towering ‘Citadel’. The extremely dry
environment (less than 10mm of rain falls on the Namib Desert every year) makes
the ecosystem extremely delicate. How is the place referred to in the above lines
better known to us ?

Y believed that it was a mission from God. For weeks, the 39-year-old had stalked
X across Washington, patiently waiting for a chance. Family members and
acquaintances had long suspected that Y was insane, but he had planned what he
was about to do with chilling precision. He had conducted target practice with an
ivory-handled .44 caliber pistol—specially purchased because Y thought it would
look nice in a museum one day—and had even tried to take a tour of the district
jail, which he assumed would be his new home after he was arrested. In his
pocket Y carried a letter addressed to the White House. It said that his mission
was going to unite the Republican Party and save the Republic. Y’s note ended by
quoting “Life is a fleeting dream, and it matters little when one goes.” Identify X
and Y.

X was then an Assistant Manager of the Lyceum Theatre in the West End of
London when in 1882 he attempted to save a drowning person who tried to
suicide by jumping of a steamer into the Thames. In fact, X carried the body to 27
Cheyne Walk, where his brother tried to revive him, though his efforts failed to
bring the man to life. The Royal Humane Society met on 17th October 1882 and
awarded X a Bronze Medal to acknowledge his courage and commitment to the
society.X is best known as an Irish author who wrote the gothic novel Y, which was
published 15 years later in 1897. Y is considered to be a masterpiece in a
particular genre within literature and established many conventions of subsequent
interest in the genre.Identify X and Y.

X- Abraham Bram Stoker
Y- Dracula

It all started at a crab-apple fair in rural England way back in 1269. King Henry III
himself had given the fair a royal charter, so a lot of people felt compelled to eat
the crab-apples, which, being ridiculously bitter, made the eaters pull funny faces,
and for a bit of fun, they decided to make a contest out of it. Almost 800 years
later, the crab-apple fair is still an annual event, as is the gurning contest, although
nowadays it draws contestants from all over the world. The etymology of "gurn" is
a bit muddy, though the venerable OED guesses that its provenance might be
Scottish, and related to the word "grin." In Northern Ireland, on the other hand, the
word has a very different meaning -- "to cry."What is this gurning contest or the
World Gurning Championship as it is known today?

The contest for making the most ugliest face.

On 20 September 2006, X delivered a speech to the United Nations General
Assembly damning Y, with particular focus on foreign policy. The speech received
international praise due in part to the strong worldwide unpopularity of the policies
of the Y’s administration.Speaking one day after Y addressed the same session of
the General Assembly, X announced, "The devil came here yesterday, and it
smells of sulfur still today, this table that I am now standing in front of." At that
point, X made the sign of the cross, positioned his hands as if praying, and looked
briefly upwards as if invocation of God. He continued "Yesterday, ladies and
gentlemen, from this rostrum, the Z, the gentleman to whom I refer as the devil,
came here, talking as if he owned the world." X also said that Y "...came [to the
General Assembly] to share his nostrums to try to preserve the current pattern of
domination, exploitation and pillage of the peoples of the world." Identify X and Y.

Y- George W Bush

One of Tycho Brahe’s biggest achievements was the observation of a new star
seen in November 1572 which he documented under the title De _________ et
nullis aevi memoria prius visa stella (“Concerning the star, new and never seen
before in the life or memory of anyone”). What class of celestial objects does this
new star fall under as per current classification?
Although credited as “Tycho’s _________”, the object was observed by multiple
other people with the French astrologers attributing the sudden, ominous
appearance of the star to violent suppressions from just a few months earlier.
What incident is being talked about?

Supernova, St. Bartholomew’s Day Massacre

TOW the Gin
This word till the 17th Century represented the belief that health was derived from
firmly stretched muscles, a concept that is borrowed from the ages old
Pythagorean “Harmony of music” concept and how it related to the balance of the
body. Since the 18th Century, the word has come to mean medicine, usually given
in the form of infusion, that is intended to restore or invigorate.
Which word are we referring to?

In the 19th Century, In a small town in the Shekhawati region of Rajasthan lived
Seth Shobharam, grandson of Seth Bhudharmal, a local tradesman of modest
means. It was his son Seth Shiv Narayan, who first ventured outside the town. At
this time Ahmedabad was the railhead which serviced trade from a large region of
Northwest India. Goods (mainly cotton) would be bought from there by train to
Bombay and then exported to England and other countries. Shiv Narayan was one
of the early Indian traders in this cotton trade. Later, as Britain began to do trade
with China, Indian farmers began cultivating opium. Shiv Narayan and his son
made huge profits from this trade.
