History of the patients

COMMON ANTIBIOTICS IN DENTISTRY

PRPROPHYLAXIS IN DENTISTRY
The two primary indications for antibiotic prophylaxis in
dentistry are:
preventing bacterial endocarditis
surgical site of infection.

WHEN TO DEDESCRIBE
ANTIBIOTICS
Dentists should be cautious in prescribe antibiotics,
only when clinically necessary.
antibiotics can lead to adverse outcomes,
including increased bacterial resistance.

MYTH OR FACT
Antibiotics can
cause depression?

DEPRESSION
Researchers at Tel Aviv University found that
even one course of antibiotics increased the
risk of depression by around 25%.
Multiple courses raised the risk by nearly 50%
HOW?

DEPRESSION
Serotonin
It’s referred as the “happiness hormone.”
serotonin found in the brain 10% and in the GI 90%
In the GI Enteroendocrine cells are responsible for
converting Tryptophan enzyme to serotonin.
Beneficial bacteria must be present for this process

DESCRIPTION

CONCLUSION
antibiotics do not described for every
situation, in some articles even in acute
abscess we do not need for antibiotics.
when antibiotics are described we have to
take care about the patient history and
condition. Finally, excessive antibiotics have
adverse effects on mental health
