MULCH A mulch is any layer of materials which covers the soil . Mulch protects soil from wind, rain, and weed infestation. It also allows good temperature of roots and bulb crops during the different seasons. It also retains moisture by preventing evaporation of the water from the sun that is why crops with mulches are less watered. The types of mulching materials are either organic or inorganic. 1
