Many of the things that used to be manipulated only by hand can now be done using the computer. Look at the cover of your book. Are these pictures on it? Those picture were created using the computer. Colors were added using the computer. The entire design of the cover was completed using the computer. There are many different software programs and tools available. Digital artist use a variety of techniques and computer hardware to draw, paint, and produce artwork using digital technology.

What principle of art is applied in the logo above? What possible message is shown in logo? What modern technology can be used in making logo wherein we can apply the different art elements?

“Hi! I’m Mark and my sister is Ashley. I was so happy because finally my dad bought me a computer. All of my school friends have computers at home, and they talked all the time about their computers and the games they played. I lived in a small town, so there wasn't too much stuff to do, that made me bored. When my dad finally came back from work, he get the computer out from the car and bring it inside. I and my sister were so happy, when he finally installed it, we take turns in using the computer. It was so much fun exploring the computer, for you learn so many things.” Who was the boy in the story? Why was he so happy? When you turned on the computer, what icons can you see? What are the icons found at the lower part of the screen monitor?

Many drawings and images software programs are available to create digital logos. Some programs are downloadable or open source (Paint) and can be learned easily. The picture below shows the paint software

Title bar - This shows the name of the image open on the canvas (or "untitled" if unnamed) and the paint.net version number. Menu bar - This area houses seven menus on the left and six utility icons on the right. Tool bar - Immediately below the  Menu Bar  is the  Tool Bar . This houses several buttons and controls for executing common commands and accessing various paint.net features. On the second rank, adjustable parameters for the active tool is shown: Canvas - This is where the image is shown and edited. All drawings, selecting and other editing actions occur here. Color window - This is the primary area for selecting and managing colors. It contains several controls for adjusting colors and opacity. Status Bar - It shows the current status of MS-Paint

1. Directions: Create your own personal logo, you may include your favorite colors, your initials, simple shapes/symbols and tell something about it. Use the paint application to do the activity. 2. Directions: In the absence of a computer, you can use graphing paper/make your own lines and create/draw your personal logo design and tell something about it. Let's make an ARTWORK.
