WHO IS ARUNIMA SINHA Arunima Sinha is a former indian volleyball player, mountaineer and the first female amputee to scale Mount Everest and Mount Vision.
HOW ARUNIMA BECAME MOUNTAINEER? Arunima Sinha was lying on hospital bed filled with pain and emotions. she was not low on confidence but, she potentially took a decision to become a mountaineer and proove herself and the world about what she is capable of.
JOURNEY OF BECOMING A MOUNTAINEER After a solemn resolution to become a mountaineer, it was not a cakewalk for her. Working hard for a few months on her fitness, she excelled in the basic mountaineering course from Nehru Institute of Mountaineering, Uttarkashi. She contacted Bachendri Pal, the first Indian woman to climb Mount Everest, and joined the training program under her at the Uttarkashi camp of the Tata Steel Adventure Foundation (TSFA) 2012.
SusenMahto was the instructor for her in TSFA. With all the potential she was ready to scale Mount Everest. Joining her instructor SusenMahto, Arunima Sinha started the ascent of Mount Everest. After hard work and dedication against the all odds they faced, Sinha reached the summit of Mount Everest on 21st May 3013, as a part of the Tata Group-sponsored Eco Everest Expedition. She became the first female amputee to scale the Everest. She spent 52 days climbing to reach the summit.
Arunima Sinha is a true example for the youth showing her willpower to achieve the goal to prove herself to this world. She received the fourth highest civilian award “The Padma Shri” from The President in 2015. She also talked about a platform named “Ted Talk”, which showed the whole world about her achievement which inspired youth all over the world
