Aspisol Tablets (Generic Acetylsalicylic Acid and Glycine Tablets) is used for the
relief of pain, fever and inflammation of a variety of conditions such as influenza,
common cold, low back and neck pain, dysmenorrhea, headache, toothache,
sprains and strains, fractures, myositis, neuralgia, synovitis, arthritis, bursitis,
burns, injuries, following surgical and dental procedures.
A low dose of Aspisol tablets is used to prevent blood clots. This effect reduces
the risk of stroke and heart attack. Aspisol is a combination of two medicines:
Aspirin (Acetylsalicylic Acid) and Glycine. Aspirin is a non-steroidal anti-
inflammatory drug (NSAID) with anti-platelet action. It works by preventing
platelets from sticking together which decreases the formation of harmful blood
clots. Glycine is a natural amino acid which reduces the harmful effects of aspirin
by preventing acid build-up and damage to stomach lining.

Uses of Aspisol 112.5 mg and 225 mg Tablets:
Aspisol Tablets (Generic Acetyl Salicylic Acid and Glycine Tablets) is used to
reduce fever and relieve mild to moderate pain from conditions such as muscle
aches, toothaches, common cold, and headaches.
It may also be used to reduce pain and swelling in conditions such as arthritis.
Acetyl Salicylic Acid is known as a salicylate and a nonsteroidal anti-
inflammatory drug (NSAID). It works by blocking a certain natural substance in
your body to reduce pain and swelling.
Aspisol tablets are also used to reduce the risk of death and myocardial
infarction (MI) in patients with chronic coronary artery disease, such as patients
with a history of MI or unstable angina pectoris or with chronic stable angina.
They are also used to reduce the risk of death and recurrent stroke in patients
who have had an ischemic stroke or transient ischemic attack.

Recommended Dosage
The dose of Aspisol Tablets (Aspirin and Glycine Tablets) for various
indications is given below:
Aspisol Tablets should be taken with food.
Usual doses for mild to moderate pain are 325 mg every 4 hours

Contraindications
➔Aspisol Tablets are contraindicated in patients with a known
hypersensitivity to Acetyl Salicylic Acid, Nonsteroidal Anti-Inflammatory
Drugs (NSAIDs), Glycine or any component of the tablet.
➔Administration of Aspisol Tablets is contraindicated in patients with in
patients with the syndrome of asthma, rhinitis, and nasal polyps. Aspirin
may cause severe urticaria, angioedema, or bronchospasm.
➔Patients with active, or history of recurrent peptic ulcer and/or
gastric/intestinal haemorrhage, or other kinds of bleeding such as
cerebrovascular haemorrhages.

Storage Instructions
Aspisol Tablets (Generic Acetylsalicylic Acid and Glycine
Tablets) have to be stored at controlled room
temperature i.e. from 20°C to 25°C (68°F to 77°F) with
excursions permitted between 15° to 30°C (59° to
86°F).
Keep this as well as all other medicines away from
children and pets.

Warnings
Aspisol (Aspirin and Glycine Tablets) increases the risk of bleeding. Risk
factors for bleeding include the use of other drugs that increase the risk of
bleeding (e.g., anticoagulants, antiplatelet agents, and chronic use of
NSAIDs).
Aspisol tablets may cause gastric ulceration and bleeding. Avoid Aspisol
in patients with active peptic ulcer disease.
Acetyl Salicylic Acid and Glycine tablets can cause fetal harm when
administered to a pregnant woman. Maternal Aspirin use during later
stages of pregnancy may cause low birth weight, increased incidence for
intracranial hemorrhage in premature infants, stillbirths and neonatal
death. Because NSAIDs may cause premature closure of the fetal ductus
arteriosus, avoid Aspisol in the third trimester of pregnancy.

Warnings
Aspisol Tablets is not recommended during menorrhagia where it may
increase menstrual bleeding.
Aspisol Tablets is to be used with caution in cases of uncontrolled
hypertension and when patients have a past history of gastric or duodenal
ulcer or haemorrhagic episodes or are undergoing therapy with
anticoagulants.
AcetylSalicylic Acid should be used with caution in patients with
moderately impaired renal or hepatic function (contraindicated if severe),
or in patients who are dehydrated since the use of NSAIDs may result in
deterioration of renal function. Liver function tests should be performed
regularly in patients presenting slight or moderate hepatic insufficiency.

Warnings
Serious skin reactions, including Steven-Johnsons syndrome, have
rarely been reported in association with the use of Acetyl Salicylic Acid.
Aspisol should be avoided in late pregnancy and generally during breast
feeding
Aspisol tablets contain lactose. Patients with rare hereditary problems of
galactose intolerance, the Lapp lactase deficiency or glucose-galactose
malabsorption should not take this medicine.
Aspisol tablets contain sucrose. Patients with rare hereditary problems
of fructose intolerance, glucose-galactose malabsorption or sucrase-
isomaltase insufficiency should not take this medicine.

dizziness, headache, lethargy, seizures.
Fluid and Electrolyte: Hyperkalemia, metabolic acidosis, respiratory

Aspisol Tablets Overdosage
The early signs of Salicylic overdose (Salicylism), including tinnitus
(ringing in the ears), occur at plasma concentrations approaching 200
mcg/mL. Plasma concentrations of Acetyl Salicylic Acid (Aspirin) above
300 mcg/mL are clearly toxic.
In acute overdose, severe acid-base and electrolyte disturbances may
occur and are complicated by hyperthermia and dehydration.
Respiratory alkalosis occurs early while hyperventilation is present, but
is quickly followed by metabolic acidosis.

Treatment of Aspisol Tablets Overdosage
Treatment of Aspisol tablets (Generic Acetyl Salicylic Acid and Glycine
tablets) overdose consists primarily of supporting vital functions, increasing
Salicylate elimination, and correcting the acid-base disturbance.
Gastric emptying or lavage is recommended as soon as possible after ingestion,
even if the patient has vomited spontaneously. After lavage or emesis,
administer activated charcoal, as a slurry, if less than 3 hours have passed
since ingestion.
Severity of Aspisol Tablets (Aspirin and Glycine Tablets) intoxication is
determined by measuring the blood Salicylate level. Monitor acid-base status
with serial blood gas and serum pH measurements. Maintain fluid and
electrolyte balance.
In severe cases, hyperthermia and hypovolemia are the major immediate
threats to life.

Aspisol Tablets During Pregnancy
Acetyl Salicylic Acid and Glycine Tablets (Aspisol tablets) has
been classified by the US FDA as Pregnancy Category D.
Avoid use of Acetyl Salicylic Acid during the third trimester of
pregnancy because NSAIDs such as Aspirin (Acetylsalicylic
Acid) may cause premature closure of the fetal ductus
arteriosus. Salicylate products have also been associated with
alterations in maternal and neonatal hemostasis mechanisms,
decreased birth weight, and with perinatal mortality.
