ASEAN Integration ASEAN Integration refers to the process of creating a more connected, unified, and cooperative Southeast Asian region. This vision materialized with the formation of the ASEAN Community in 2015, based on three main pillars:

The Three Pillars of ASEAN Integration 1 ASEAN Political-Security Community (APSC) Aims to ensure peaceful, stable, and resilient Southeast Asia. Promotes democracy, rule of law, and human rights. 2 ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) Established in 2015 to create a single market and production base. Main features: Free flow of goods, services, investment, capital, and skilled labor. 3 ASEAN Socio-Cultural Community (ASCC) Focuses on building a people-centered ASEAN. Areas of cooperation: Environmental protection and sustainable development.

ASEAN Political-Security Community (APSC) The ASEAN Political-Security Community (APSC) aims to ensure peaceful, stable, and resilient Southeast Asia. It promotes democracy, rule of law, and human rights. The APSC enhances cooperation in addressing common security issues such as terrorism, piracy, cyber threats, and disaster management. It also encourages preventive diplomacy and peaceful settlement of disputes.

ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) The ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) was established in 2015 to create a single market and production base. Its main features include: Free flow of goods, services, investment, capital, and skilled labor. Reduction of trade barriers and tariffs. Stronger regional supply chains and production networks. Support for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs). The goal of the AEC is to make ASEAN a globally competitive region that attracts investments and promotes inclusive growth.

ASEAN Socio-Cultural Community (ASCC) & Benefits of Integration ASEAN Socio-Cultural Community (ASCC) The ASCC focuses on building a people-centered ASEAN. Areas of cooperation include: Environmental protection and sustainable development. Education and youth exchange programs (e.g., ASEAN University Network). Public health cooperation, including pandemic response and nutrition programs. Preservation of cultural heritage and promotion of diversity. Social protection and promotion of human rights. Benefits of ASEAN Integration for Member States Larger and stronger regional economy. Easier movement for students, workers, and professionals. Enhanced disaster response and humanitarian cooperation. Shared learning in science, technology, and innovation. Greater bargaining power in dealing with major powers.
