ROBOTIC DISPENSING

ADVANTAGES Improving safety, efficiency, and stock control for maximizing storage capacity. This technology stores and retrieves the medication automatically. Ability to provide instantaneous. Safe dispensing. Pharmacists can devote more time to the clinical care of the patient. Adding value to clinical roles. Improve prescription filling time and patient waiting time. Robot can store up to 35000 medicines and dispense around 12 prescription in a minute. lack of definitive evidence that this technology actually reduces dispensing errors. Expensive . Skill is required . DISADVANTAGES

WORKING T he doctor prescribes the medicine on the computer, he is also in fact writing the label to attach to the medicine. Robotic dispensing system is used to store medicines by bar code, then drugs can only be supplied by the robot by bar code identification. The electronic prescription prescribed by the physician contain a bar code hence the RD system scan it and barcode item is selected and dispensed. There is then a direct electronic link between the medicine, bar code and item selected on the electronic prescription and the label that is printed. Clip for demo
