The AWS Restart program is a comprehensive, full-time, skills development initiative designed to jumpstart the careers of individuals who are looking to pursue roles in cloud computing. This program offers an excellent opportunity for participants to develop technical skills, gain hands-on experience, and ultimately prepare for a career in the dynamic and rapidly growing field of cloud computing.
Overview of AWS and Cloud Computing
Amazon Web Services (AWS) is the leading cloud platform in the world, offering over 200 fully featured services from data centers globally. Cloud computing enables organizations to access computing resources on demand, such as servers, storage, databases, and more, without the need to invest in and manage physical hardware. AWS provides scalable, reliable, and cost-effective infrastructure to support a variety of workloads, from web applications to big data analytics.
In the modern digital landscape, cloud computing is essential. It allows businesses to innovate faster, reduce costs, and operate more efficiently. The AWS Restart program is designed to equip individuals with the foundational knowledge and practical skills necessary to leverage AWS services effectively and pursue a career in this high-demand industry.
Program Structure and Content
Cloud Fundamentals: Understanding the basics of cloud computing, including the AWS Global Infrastructure, AWS Well-Architected Framework, and core services like compute, storage, and networking.
AWS Core Services: Deep dive into essential AWS services such as Amazon EC2 (Elastic Compute Cloud), Amazon S3 (Simple Storage Service), AWS Lambda, and Amazon RDS (Relational Database Service).
Security and Compliance: Learning about AWS security best practices, identity and access management (IAM), data protection, and compliance considerations within the cloud environment.
Networking and Databases: Exploring networking concepts like Virtual Private Cloud (VPC), subnets, route tables, and gateways, as well as understanding database services, including relational and NoSQL databases.
Application Development: Introduction to cloud-native development, serverless architecture, and building applications using AWS services.
Practical Labs and Projects: Hands-on labs and projects that simulate real-world scenarios, allowing participants to apply their knowledge and build experience in using AWS tools and services.

Services Amazon VPC (Virtual Private Cloud)- Enables Users to launch AWS resources into a virtual network. Some AWS Services include Amazon EC2 ( Elastic Cloud Computing)- Allows users to rent virtual computers for use. Amazon S3 (Simple Storage Services)- Allows users to store and retrieve data from anywhere on the web. Amazon RDS (Relational Database Services)- Enables users to set up, manage and operate databases on the cloud. Amazon VPC
Use Case Case in point Netflix. Netflix has seen an increase in demand for their streaming services over the years with 231 million subscribers as of 2023. Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2) is a service that provides scalable computing capacity in the cloud. It allows users to rent virtual computers on which they can run their own applications. Hence the need for a scalable infrastructure to support its global operations and seamless viewing.
Amazon EC2’s Scalable computing allows Netflix to dynamically adjust resources in response to fluctuating demand, ensuring that the streaming service remains responsive and reliable all the time.
