13.  A Separator is a device used to separate impurities because during the extraction process, not only oil and gas are produced but also other impurities (such as sand, water, and mud).  In the oil and gas extraction process, the separator plays an important role in optimizing the production and processing stages, while also reducing costs and time for subsequent stages  The purpose of the separator is to separately separate the mixed stream of oil, gas, and impurities into different streams, for example: oil, gas, water, and sand. 12 Separator
