This free event invites people of all ages to downtown Honolulu’s
galleries and studios to view work by various artists. More than 20
galleries participate in the evening’s events, which include live mu-
sic, street entertainment, wine tasting, and shopping in downtown’s
antique stores. Guests can also experience the many bars, clubs and
restaurants that make downtown a unique destination.

Sunset On The Beach
Enjoy a free film on a 30-foot screen under the stars on Queens Beach
in Waikiki. Movies range from action to comedy and are always fam-

p.m. Zoo exhibits close at 5:30 p.m. Sakuma will conduct ukulele prize
drawings for both adults and children ages 6-12 before every concert.
Admission is $3 per person two years of age and older, with all
proceeds going to the Honolulu Zoo Society. Food and drink will be
available separately for a nominal fee, and pre-order bentos will also

Pan-Pacific Festival
Waikiki (various locations) and Ala Moana Center’s “Centertainment
Stage,” Level 3, Nordstrom Wing
Pan-Pacific Festival, will feature an appealing variety of hula and
music that brings together the local and visiting Japa¬nese commu-
nities. Food booths and arts and crafts vendors will help fill out the
evening’s activities from 7 to 10 p.m.

8th Annual Aloha Piano Festival

The Aloha International Piano Festival, Competition and Piano
Academy is the premiere destination for pianists of all ages, teachers
and music lovers from near and far. Each year, the Festival presents
masterclasses with concert pianists, a piano competition, the Piano
Academy, and concert series showcasing world-class artists.
In 2013, pianists Jon Nakamatsu, John Bayless, Bruce Brubaker,
Thomas Sauer, Haewon Song, and Lisa Nakamichi will lead master-
classes, workshops and concerts in a week of inspirational learning.
Students and teachers of all ages and abilities can enrich their love of
the piano in this non-competitive, nurturing environment.
The Festival’s popular and low-cost recital series welcomes the
greater community and features free admission to the Aloha Interna-
tional Piano Competition on Saturday, June 15. Everyone is invited to
enjoy beautiful music performed by world-class artists in this family-
friendly setting.
36th Annual LeaderLuncheon “Shine”

Get Inspired! For 35 years, the YWCA of O’ahu has recognized
Hawaii’s women leaders at the LeaderLuncheon event. The annual

ments. The theme this year is “Shine” and we will honor those women
who provide shining examples for the rest of us through their work.
They are our community’s innovators and pioneers.

Art After Dark at The Honolulu Academy of Art:

Honolulu Museum of Art

The fifth annual August Moon features wines from more than
20 winemakers from Northern California, Australia, Oregon and
Hawai‘i, small plates from top restaurants and chefs, and Drawn Out,
an innovative art sale gathering more than 20 artists to create art
throughout the evening. All proceeds from August Moon support the
museum’s art education programs.
The event is a special opportunity for wine enthusiasts. Every sum-
mer, Johnson Brothers of Hawaii selects a stellar lineup of winemak-
ers that it represents for a tour to allow industry insiders a taste of
their products. August Moon allows the general public in on the wine
action.

12th Annual Duke’s Oceanfest

The 12th annual Duke’s OceanFest will be held at venue sites throughout Waikiki, from Saturday, August 17, through Sunday, Au- gust 25, 2013. The 9-day event features a variety of ocean sports that were close to Duke Kahanamoku’s heart: Longboard Surfing - Paddle-
board Racing - Swimming - Tandem Surfing - Surf Polo - Beach Vol- leyball - Stand-Up Paddling, etc.
Duke’s OceanFest is held each summer in Waikiki in honor of Ha-
waiian Duke Paoa Kahanamoku, who is remembered as the greatest
waterman who ever lived, and Hawaii’s ambassador of Aloha. Among
his many accomplishments, Duke Kahanamoku was an Olympic gold
medal swimmer; a surfer; an esteemed canoe steersman; a Hollywood
actor; and the Sheriff of Honolulu.
The festivities commence on August 17, with a lei draping and cer-
emony at Duke’s statue that is open to the public. Duke’s birthday
celebration is on August 24th and is one of many of the weeks high-
lights; which also include the KINE Luau, Waterman’s Awards, etc.
