Contents

1. Types of Data & Measuring Data

TYPES OF DATA

Categorize these datas No. of patients Waiting time

Quantitative data can be converted into qualitative categorical data by using cut-off points For example, biological measurements or results from rating scales are often converted into disease/no-disease categories or cured/not cured categories.

Measuring Data determines the types of statistics that can be used to analyse the data.

2. Data Distribution / Interpretation

After data are collected, the information needs to be organised and summarised. Patterns or trends might emerge and this can help determine which statistical analyses should be performed on the data. Depending on whether a variable is discrete or continuous, the probability distribution can be discrete or continuous. T hree common probability distributions to consider: Binomial (discrete) Poisson (discrete) Normal (continuous)
