ROBOTIC ARM A   robotic arm  is a type of  mechanical arm, usually  programmable, with similar functions to a human  arm; the arm may be the sum total of the mechanism or may be part of a more complex  robot. The links of such a manipulator are connected by joints allowing either rotational motion (such as in an articulated robot) or translational (linear) displacement.  The links of the manipulator can be considered to form a  kinematic chain.

ARDUINO Arduino   is an  open source hardware  and  software  company, project, and user community that designs and manufactures single board microcontrollers   and microcontroller  kits for building digital devices . Arduino board designs use a variety of  microprocessors  and controllers. The boards are equipped with sets of digital and analog  input/output (I/O ) pins that may be interfaced to various expansion boards ('shields') or  breadboards (for prototyping) and other circuits. The boards feature serial communications interfaces, including Universal Serial Bus (USB ) on some models, which are also used for loading programs.

MOTOR DRIVER The L293D is quadruple high-current half-H drivers . It is designed to provide bidirectional drive currents of up to 600-mA at voltages from 4.5 V to 36 V. Both devices are designed to drive inductive loads such as relays, solenoids, dc and bipolar stepping motors, as well as other high-current/high-voltage loads in positive-supply applications. All inputs are TTL compatible.

WHEEL : A   wheel  is a circular component that is intended to rotate on an  axel bearing. The wheel is one of the key components of the wheel and axel  which is one of the six simple machines. Wheels, in conjunction with axles, allow heavy objects to be moved easily facilitating movement or transportation while supporting a load, or performing labor in machines.  SERVO MOTOR:

A servo is a mechanical motorized device that can be instructed to move the output shaft attached to a servo wheel or arm to a specified position. Inside the servo box is a DC motor mechanically linked to a position feedback potentiometer, gearbox, electronic feedback control loop circuitry and motor drive electronic circuit. A typical R/C servo looks like a plastic rectangular box with a rotary shaft coming up and out the top of the box and three electrical wires out of the servo side to a plastic 3 pin connector. Attached to the output shaft out the top of the box is a servo wheel or Arm. These wheels or arms are usually a plastic part with holes in it for attaching push / pull rods, ball joints or other mechanical linkage devices to the servo. The three electrical connection wires out of the side are V- (Ground), V+ (Plus voltage) and S Control (Signal). The control S (Signal) wire receives Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) signals sent from an external controller and is converted by the servo on board circuitry to operate the servo.

LCD DISPLAY : Liquid crystal displays (LCDs) have materials which combine the properties of both liquids and crystals. Rather than having a melting point, they have a temperature range within which the molecules are almost as mobile as they would be in a liquid, but are grouped together in an ordered form similar to a crystal. An LCD consists of two glass panels, with the liquid crystal material sand witched in between them. The inner surface of the glass plates are coated with transparent electrodes which define the character, symbols or patterns to be displayed polymeric layers are present in between the electrodes and the liquid crystal, which makes the liquid crystal molecules to maintain a defined orientation angle. One each polarisers are pasted outside the two glass panels. These polarisers would rotate the light rays passing through them to a definite angle, in a particular direction When the LCD is in the off state, light rays are rotated by the two polarisers and the liquid crystal, such that the light rays come out of the LCD without any orientation, and hence the LCD appears transparent.

HC 05 BLUETOOTH : HC-05 Bluetooth Module is an easy to use Bluetooth SPP (Serial Port Protocol) module, designed for transparent wireless serial connection setup. Its communication is via serial communication which makes an easy way to interface with controller or PC. HC-05 Bluetooth module provides switching mode between master and slave mode which means it able to use neither receiving nor transmitting data. Specification:  Model: HC-05  Input Voltage: DC 5V  Communication Method: Serial Communication  Master and slave mode can be switched

DC MOTOR : A DC motor is any of a class of electrical machines that converts direct current electrical power into mechanical power. The most common types rely on the forces produced by magnetic fields. Nearly all types of DC motors have some internal mechanism, either electromechanical or electronic, to periodically change the direction of current flow in part of the motor. Most types produce rotary motion; a linear motor directly produces force and motion in a straight line. DC motors were the first type widely used, since they could be powered from existing direct-current lighting power distribution systems. A DC motor's speed can be controlled over a wide range, using either a variable supply voltage or by changing the strength of current in its field windings. Small DC motors are used in tools, toys, and appliances. The universal motor can operate on direct current but is a lightweight motor used for portable power tools and appliances. Larger DC motors are used in propulsion of electric vehicles, elevator and hoists, or in drives for steel rolling mills. The advent of power electronics has made replacement of DC motors with AC motors possible in many

LEAD ACID BATTERY : Most lead-acid batteries are constructed with the positive electrode (the anode) made from a leadantimony alloy with lead (IV) oxide pressed into it, although batteries designed for maximum life use a lead-calcium alloy. The negative electrode (the cathode) is made from pure lead and both electrodes are immersed in sulphuric acid. When the battery is discharged water is produced, diluting the acid and reducing its specific gravity. On charging sulphuric acid is produced and the specific gravity of the electrolyte increases. The specific gravity can be measured using a hydrometer and will have a value of about 1.250 for a charged cell and 1.17 for a discharged cell, although these values will vary depending on the make of battery. The specific gravity also depends on the battery temperature and the above values or for a battery at 15°C. If lead-acid batteries are over discharged or left standing in the discharged state for prolonged periods hardened lead sulphate coats the electrodes and will not be removed during recharging. Such build-ups reduce the efficiency and life of batteries. Over charging can cause electrolyte to escape as gases.

CHASSIS: The chassis is the structural component for the robot which contains the drivetrain and allows the robot to be mobile by using wheels, tank treads, or another method. A chassis is sometimes referred to as the robot's Chassis. A robot chassis essentially provides a sturdy and reliable foundation upon which all of the other components of the robot can comfortably rest.  The robot chassis is very important. Without it, even tiny toy robots wouldn’t be able to function properly! The robot’s chassis allows it to move and maneuver freely about a room, making industrial robots the helpful little autonomous workers that have already made such a difference in both the cleaning and restaurant industries. In this article, we’ll go over the different types of robot chassis and how each one works.

ARDUINO IDE: The Arduino Integrated Development Environment - or Arduino Software (IDE) - contains a text editor for writing code, a message area, a text console, a toolbar with buttons for common functions and a series of menus. It connects to the Arduino hardware to upload programs and communicate with them. Additional commands are found within the five menus: File , Edit , Sketch , Tools , Help . The menus are context sensitive, which means only those items relevant to the work currently being carried out are available. SKETCH BOOK: The Arduino Software (IDE) uses the concept of a sketchbook: a standard place to store your programs (or sketches). The sketches in your sketchbook can be opened from the File > Sketchbook menu or from the Open button on the toolbar. The first time you run the Arduino software, it will automatically create a directory for your sketchbook. You can view or change the location of the sketchbook location from with the Preferences dialog.

UPLOADING: Before uploading your sketch, you need to select the correct items from the Tools > Board and Tools > Port menus. The boards are described below. On the Mac, the serial port is probably something like /dev/tty.usbmodem241 (for an UNO or Mega2560 or Leonardo) or /dev/tty.usbserial-1B1 (for a Duemilanove or earlier USB board), or /dev/tty.USA19QW1b1P1.1 (for a serial board connected with a Keyspan USB-to-Serial adapter). On Windows, it's probably COM1 or COM2 (for a serial board) or COM4 , COM5 , COM7 , or higher (for a USB board) - to find out, you look for USB serial device in the ports section of the Windows Device Manager. On Linux, it should be /dev/ ttyACMx , /dev/ ttyUSBx or similar. Once you've selected the correct serial port and board, press the upload button in the toolbar or select the Upload item from the Sketch menu. Current Arduino boards will reset automatically and begin the upload. With older boards (pre- Diecimila ) that lack auto-reset, you'll need to press the reset button on the board just before starting the upload. On most boards, you'll see the RX and TX LEDs blink as the sketch is uploaded. The Arduino Software (IDE) will display a message when the upload is complete, or show an error. When you upload a sketch, you're using the Arduino bootloader , a small program that has been loaded on to the microcontroller on your board. It allows you to upload code without using any additional hardware.

EMBEDDED C:  Embedded C is most popular programming language in software field for developing electronic gadgets. Each processor used in electronic system is associated with embedded software.  Embedded C programming plays a key role in performing specific function by the processor.
