Benjamin Zephaniah Benjamin Obadiah Iqbal Zephaniah was a British Jamaican poet , writer and activist Born 15th April 1958 in Birmingham Died 7th December 2023 Background : - Jamaican lineage - influenced by upbringing Birmingham Poetry : Themes : Social justice , equality , identity Style: strongly influenced by Jamaican music and poetry , dub poetry Activism : Advocacy : Anti-racism , animal rigths , environmentalism Platform : Art, puplic speaking

Why Benjamin Zephaniah wrote the poem . The poem refers to the period when the Romans conquered England and cultural assimilation started Zephaniah wanted to emphasize how people living in different regions of the world got mixed into British culture
