2. Introduction The Philippines’ Indigenous People’s Rights Act of 1997 ( R.A. 8371) is an act that recognize, protect and promote the rights of indigenous cultural communities/indigenous peoples (Republic Acts, 1997). Approved in the Philippine legislation on October 29,1997. A direct result of a progressive provision that was enshrined in the Constitution of 1987. Image from Google

3. Introduction The State, subject to the provisions of this Constitution and national development policies and programs, shall protect the rights of indigenous cultural communities to their ancestral lands to ensure their economic, social, and cultural well-being (Ar.12,Sec.5 of 1987 Constitution ). Ethno-linguistic indigenous groups face discrimination, resource depletion, armed conflict, unemployment, underemployment, and illiteracy are common in IP communities.

4. Introduction This research aims to investigate the level of awareness and implementation of IPRA law among Subanens in the Tampilisan District. The information that the researchers will gather in this study may be used as a basis for further initiatives necessary for the awareness, implementation, and recognition of IPRA law.

5. The IPRA law perceives and advances the privileges of native social networks and native people groups in the Philippines. There has been significant uncertainty over the IPs/ICCs' identity and rights, leading to a long policy and institutional evolution that culminated in the enactment of IPRA law. Background of the Study The Subanen have always one of the most affected sector of development.

6. They are still facing significant socioeconomic marginalization and are disproportionately vulnerable in public health emergencies and food insecurity . Policies tend to change with each new leader, and different leaders emphasize different programs . Background of the Study The researchers proposed this study to know the level of awareness and implementation of IPRA law among the Subanens of Tampilisan District. T he execution of the IPRA law as nationally is not as distinct and successful as they may be.

11. Research Methods D escriptive-survey method of research using the questionnaire. Research Setting Tampilisan District of Zamboanga del Norte. Identified barangay representatives: (I) Poblacion and Camul ; (II) New Dapitan and Sto . Nino; (III) Galingon and (IV) Situbo and Sandayong ,

Respondents of the Study Subanen people of Tampilisan District of Zamboanga del Norte At legal age (18 years and above) and At least of two (2) years of length in residence in his/her community in consistent to Banerjee’s comparative concept of image and perceptual process. The desired target sample size of thirty (30) representatives per identified group barangays will be considered . Non-probability sampling technique will be used . To be selected purposively of their acknowledgement as an IPs or according to their time of availability.

17. To answer problem number 1 and 3, frequency count, simple percentage and weighted mean will be used . Statistical Treatment of Data To answer problem number 2 and 4, Kruskal Wallis Test shall be used for age and educational attainment groupings while Mann-Whitney U Test will be used for sex groupings.
