TOPIC: BIOGENETIC ANALYSIS PRESENTED BY MEGHAJ KUMAR MALLICK MCA/25017/18 1 ST YEAR,2 ND SEMESTER BIRLA INSTITUE OF TECHNOLOGY MESRA, JAIPUR CAMPUS

INTRODUCTION Genetics is a branch of biology concerned with the study of genes, genetic variation, and heredity  in  organisms . Genetics is a field of biology that studies how traits are passed from parents to their offspring.

CONTINUED:   It is built around molecules called DNA( Deoxyribonucleic acid).  DNA molecules hold all the genetic information for an organism. It provides cells with the information they need to perform tasks that allow an organism to grow, survive and reproduce

MENDEL EXPERIMENT

CONTINUED Mendel  discovered genetics in the late 19th-century. Mendel studied "trait inheritance", patterns in the way traits are handed down from parents to offspring. .  He observed that organisms (pea plants) inherit traits by way of discrete "units of inheritance". This term, still used today, is a somewhat ambiguous definition of what is referred to as a gene.

TRAIT INHERITANCE   Trait inheritance and molecular inheritance mechanisms of genes are still primary principles of genetics in the 21st century, but modern genetics has expanded beyond inheritance to studying the function and behaviour of genes.

ABOUT GENETICS Gene structure and function, variation, and distribution are studied within the context of the cell, the organism (e.g. dominance), and within the context of a population. Genetics has given rise to a number of subfields, including epigenetics and population genetics. Organisms studied within the broad field span the domains of life (   bacteria).

BIO GENETICS ANALYSIS Genetic analysis is the overall process of studying and researching in fields of science that involve genetics and molecular biology.  Basic studies include identification of genes and inherited disorders. Genetic analysis can be used generally to describe methods both used in and resulting from the sciences of genetics and molecular biology, or to applications resulting from this research.

TYPES OF GENETICS ANALYSIS Genetic analyses  include molecular technologies such as PCR, RT-PCR, DNA sequencing, and DNA microarrays, and cytogenetic methods such as karyotyping and fluorescence in situ hybridisation.

PRACTICAL APPLICATION Cancer breakthrough This research has been able to identify the concepts of genetic mutations, fusion genes and changes in DNA copy numbers, and advances are made in the field every day.
