OVERVIEW OF THE BISCUIT INDUSTRY Indian Biscuit Industry is the largest among all the food industries and it has a turn over of around Rs.3000 crores . India is known to be the second largest manufacturer of biscuits, the first being USA. Biscuit industry in India the organized sector produces around 60% and the remain 40% produced by unorganized sector.

Britannia brand is now available in nearly 1.8 million outlets. Britannia claims that it has a superior distribution clout with its presence which is nearly 3.3 million outlets. Parle, the seasoned player itself, says it is available in 1.5 million outlets.

GROWTH OF THE INDUSTRY The Federation of Biscuit Manufacturers of India (FBMI) has confirmed a bright future of India Biscuits Industry. According to FBMI, a steady growth of 15 percent per annum in the next 10 years will be achieved by the biscuit industry of India. Besides , the export of biscuits will also surpass the target and hit the global market successfully

TRENDS The Indian biscuit market is currently 1.1 million tonnes per annum at Rs 50 billion. About 90% of Indians buy and eat biscuits. The largest consumers of biscuits are the states of Maharashtra, West Bengal, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, and Uttar Pradesh. Biscuit are predominantly consumed by people from the lower strata of society, particularly children in both rural and urban areas with an average monthly income of Rs . 750.00.

SCOPE The biscuits and cookies industry in India has been growing at a CAGR of 10 per cent for the last three years, and is currently valued at Rs 145 billion. India is currently the world's largest biscuit consuming nation. The industry is expected to grow at a CAGR of 14 per cent till financial year (FY) 2019

CONCLUSION Conclusion In Indian BISCUIT Industry even the small companies are able to make profits. Indian biscuit Industry has a continuous growth and will not behindered due to external factors. Biscuit Industry has flourished inIndia enormously over the years and is still growing phenomenally Entrepreneurs or businessmen who are in process of buying, installation of new biscuit line should keep following points in mind, apart from legal requirement of industrial licenses pollution clearances and of course finance.
