Black tip of mango

This presentation includes symptoms, etiology and management of black tip of mango.

2. BLACK TIP OR NECROSIS OF MANGO Occurred in UP, Punjab, Bihar and W. Bengal Not occurred in South India Prevalent near brick links Affect till 90% fruits

3. Symptoms Appear after 6-8 weeks old fruits or at ripening stage Necrosis on tip of fruits Tip become black & flat Inner portion of tip become soft, rottened & secretion of dark brown liquid

4. Causes of disease Caused by SO 2 , CO 2 & Acetylene gases released from brick links Disease is more prevalent near bricks links

5. Disease Management Spray Borax @ 3-4 kg/500 lit. water. I&II Spray – flowering stage III Spray – fruiting stage No brink links should be near garden Chimney should be 15-18 Meter height Distance of Planting of new garden trees East West - 1.6 Km North south – 0.8 Km Covering of mango plants with cellophane bags rescue from brick links smoke.
