Lets try measuring! Dry Ingredients Flour Baking powder/Baking Soda Powdered Milk White Sugar Brown Sugar

Definition of Terms Accurate -   conforming exactly to truth or to a standard. Level off - to make (a line or surface) horizontal . - make flat or level. Lumps - a short thick piece of ingredients. Measurement - the act or process of  measuring . Shortening - an edible fat. Sift -   to put through a sieve.

Measuring Techniques of Ingredients

Flour Sift the flour to remove lumps. Scoop to fill the measuring cup to overflow Do not shake and level off with spatula.

Sugar Granulated Sugar Fill the measuring cup until it overflows. Do not shake the cup, instead level it off.

Sugar Brown Sugar Check if the sugar is lumpy before measuring. Remove the dirt. Pack into the measuring cup compactly and level using a spatula until the sugar

Baking Powder Remove the lumps in the powder by stirring. Dip the measuring spoon into the powder. Level with the use of spatula or any straight edge tool.

Shortening (Solid Fats) Fill the cup with the shortening while pressing until it’s full. Level the fat with a straight of knife or spatula.

Liquid Shortening Pour oil in the glass measuring cup. Check if it’s filled up to the measuring mark. Do not lift the cup when measuring.

Liquid Ingredients Pour milk into the glass measuring cup C heck if the measurement is correct by filling up the cup to the measuring mark. Do not lift the cup while measuring.

Do it! Measure the following : 2/3 cup of flour 1 ½ cup of water 2 tbsp of baking powder
