Brain and behaviour Presented by SANAP MEGHRAJ MADHUKAR Date : 8 th Dec 2024 Bsc Nursing Sem-1 SCON
Objectives 1 .To introduce brain and behaviour 2. To define brain and behaviour 3. To explain parts of brain and its behavioural functions 4. To summarise brain and behaviour
Introduction The entire human behaviour is managed and controlled by the coordination and functioning of nervous system
Activities or functions influenced by nervous system Growth and development Emotional behaviour Learning Interaction with environment
Definition Brain and behaviour refers to the relationship between brains structure functions and processes and how these influence actions thoughts emotions and overall behaviour of human
Parts of brain and its functions CEREBRUM Frontal lobe :- creative thought, problem solving behaviour and attention Parietal lobe :- visual functions language reading hand tactile sensation Temporal lobe :- visual and auditory memories Occipital lobe :- controls vision
Controls essential body functions such as balance, posture and coordination allowing humans to move properly and maintain their structure Cerebellum
Limbic system Limbic system-Amygdala, hippocampus, hypothalamus and thalamus Functions-emotions,memories,fear,learning memory, converting temporary memories to permanent memories, controls mood, thirst, hunger temperature and sensing pain
Brain stem Brain stem contains the medulla, midbrain and pons All basic life functions originate in the brains stem, including heart beat, blood pressure and breathing
Corpus callosum The two brain hemispheres are connected by thick band of neural fibres known as corpus Callosum It allows the two hemispheres to communicate with each and transfer information
Brain hemispheres The left hemisphere of brain is responsible for controlling the right side of the body and vice versa Left hemisphere-science and mathematics Right hemisphere-creativity and arts
Summary The above presentation discusses the nervous system’s role in managing human behaviou, emphasizing brain structures and their function s
