Break Down Maintenance In this method, we only fix things when they break, to get them working again. A lso known as reactive maintenance or corrective maintenance.
Examples Fixing a car only when it stops working because the engine has a problem . Repairing an elevator that has stopped working and taking it out of service until it's fixed.

Types of Breakdown Maintenance Planned Maintenance Unplanned Maintenance
Planned maintenance When the organization gets ready for something to break and knows it will happen. The equipment keeps working until it stops working, which starts a run to failure (RTF) process.
Example Regular oil change for fleet vehicles as per manufacturer's recommendation .
Unplanned maintenance It happens when equipment suddenly stops working or breaks unexpectedly, Also known as unplanned downtime.
Examples A motor in a production line stops working suddenly, and everything has to stop until it's fixed or replaced.
Advantages (Break Down Main.) Fixing things only when they break can save money at first Sometimes, machines can work for a long time without breaking down, which may make them last longer.
Disadvantages (Break Down Main.) Unexpected equipment failures can be dangerous for workers. Unplanned maintenance makes it hard to get work done until the equipment is fixed[3].
