It's our goal to empower our network of site managers to treat accessibility-related improvements as must-do actions. A key part of our efforts is ensuring access to tools and knowledge along with an awareness of the importance of accessibility. Having a governance framework in place that references legal considerations also helps.
But is this enough? Are there actions can we take to foster a real passion for building accessible websites?
How about building a digital accessibility community of practice?
In this presentation, you'll learn from our experiences building a community of practice for digital accessibility at McGill University.

Land acknowledgement I’m presenting to you from land which has long served as a site of meeting and exchange amongst Indigenous peoples, including the Haudenosaunee and Anishinabeg nations. I acknowledge and thank the diverse Indigenous peoples whose presence marks this territory on which peoples of the world now gather.

Community of practice definition Communities of practice are groups of people who share a concern or a passion for something they do and learn how to do it better as they interact regularly . (Lave & Wenger, 1991)
Communities of practice How do we inspire people to share a concern or passion for our standards? How to we encourage people to continually learn about out digital standards? How do we make it possible for people to interact as they learn?
