2. Introduction This Act may be called the Building and Other Construction Workers (Regulation of Employment and Conditions of Service) Act, 1996. It extends to the whole of India. It shall be deemed to have come into force on the 1st day of March, 1996. An Act to regulate the employment and conditions of service of building and other construction workers and to provide for their safety, health and welfare measures and for other matters connected therewith or incidental there to .
