Cash Rounding in Odoo 17 POS Enterprise

Introduction Enterpr ise Odoo Point of Sale (POS) has a built-in feature for cash rounding to streamline transactions and reduce the need for exact change. Now we can take a look into Cash Rounding in Odoo 17 POS through this Slide.

Enterprise Cash Rounding Cash rounding rounds the total bill amount of a sale to the nearest denomination (e.g., nearest five cents, ten cents) suitable for cash payments. This eliminates the hassle of dealing with small changes for customers and cashiers.

Enterprise Enable Cash Rounding in Odoo Pos To manage cash rounding, move to the configuration settings in the POS module. Here we have a feature called Cash Rounding, we can enable the cash rounding option which defines the smallest coin of the currency used for cash payment.

Enterprise We can choose the Rounding method from here. Enable the On Cash Method field only if you want to manage cash rounding for cash methods. We can configure cash rounding under configuration by clicking the cash rounding option.

Enterprise We can see the Configured roundings and we can create new Rounding configurations.

Enterprise Rounding Methods The Rounding method determines how the rounding happens. In Odoo, Pos offers three options: UP : Always round the total up to the nearest denomination. DOWN : Always round the total down to the nearest denomination. Half UP : Rounds up if the decimal part is greater than 0.5, otherwise rounds down (e.g., $4.50 rounds up to $5, $4.49 rounds down to $4).

Enterprise Rounding Precision : This sets the minimum amount for rounding. For instance, if set to 0.05 (five cents), any amount ending with a decimal less than 0.05 will round down to the nearest whole number. Profit Account & Loss Account: These accounts record the difference arising from rounding. If rounding up benefits the company (extra cash collected), the profit account stores that amount. Conversely, the loss account stores any customer benefit (amount rounded down). Cash Rounding Once configured, when a customer pays in cash and the total amount has a decimal part, Odoo POS will automatically round it based on your settings. The customer will see the rounded amount on the receipt.

Enterprise Now let's go to the dashboard and from here we can see the different sessions. Currently we are going to manage restaurant session using half up rounding method. So first we need to select the rounding method Half Up .

Enterprise Let's open the session and create an order by choosing the product, then after we can make the payment by clicking the Payment button.

Enterprise Here we are just going to make the payment by using cash method, here we just set the rounding by half up and using 0.1 the amount has rounded into 8.6

Enterprise Then we can check the working of Down Cash Rounding. Go to settings and choose the Rounding Method Down.

Enterprise Then open the session and create order by choosing the product, then after we can make the payment by clicking the Payment button.

Enterprise Here we are just going to make the payment by using cash method, here we just set the rounding by Down method and using 0.5 the amount has rounded into 3.0
