Your Change Quota Imagine that you have 100 change points each year. Every change, big or small, positive or negative, requires that you use some of your points.

Your Change Quota Your change quota is like a sponge. Too much change & you become saturated.

Your Expectations Drive You Expectations may be positive or negative. Anticipating whatʼs coming helps give you a sense of control.

Surprise Destabilizes! Being surprised disrupts your equilibrium & sense of control.

Why You Resist Change Fear of the unknown. Perceived loss of power. Fear of looking incompetent. Donʼt see whatʼs in it for me. Low risk- taking disposition.

How You Show Resistance Disagree with the plan. Criticize the plan to others. Donʼt implement. Argue with others. Shut down & withdraw.

Be ready for resistance, whether you view change as positive or negative.

Danger Orientation View change as a potential threat. Slow to acknowledge the need to change. Become defensive.

Opportunity Orientation Accept change as a part of life. Recognize disruption as a signal to adapt. Respond positively.
