A Fire extinguisher is a device in which carbon dioxide is produced in different forms to extinguish the fire. What is a fire extinguisher?

Types of Fire Class A : Wood, paper, cloth, trash, plastics—solids that are not metals. Class B : Flammable liquids—gasoline, oil, grease, acetone. Includes flammable gases. Class C : Electrical—energized electrical equipment. As long as it’s “plugged in.” Class D : Metals—potassium, sodium, aluminum, magnesium. Requires special extinguishing agents.

Dry Chemical Fire Extinguisher A very versatile fire extinguisher, these are rated to be effective on Class A, B & C fires. Dry chemical extinguishers put out fire by coating the fuel with a thin layer of dust, separating the fuel from the oxygen in the air.

Dry Powder Fire Extinguisher Dry powder extinguishers are only for use in Class D fires. Class D fires involve combustible metals like magnesium, titanium, potassium and sodium. This type of fire might occur in a chemical laboratory .
