Clean India Mission स्वच्छ भारत अभियान

Introduction Clean India Mission is a national level campaign by the Government of India, covering 4041 statutory towns to clean the streets, roads and infrastructure of the country . This campaign was officially launched on 2 October 2014 at Rajghat , New Delhi , where Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself wielded broom and cleaned a road. The campaign is India's biggest ever cleanliness drive and 3 million government employees and schools and colleges students of India participated in this event .

Objectives This campaign aims to accomplish the vision of 'Clean India' by 2 October 2019, 150th birthday of Mahatma Gandhi and is expected to cost over 62000 crore (US$9.7 billion). 100% collection and scientific processing/disposal reuse/recycle of Municipal Solid Waste. To generate awareness among the citizens about sanitation and its linkages with public health. To eliminate open defecation.

Nominees Sir Narendra Modi nominates nine public figures to propagate this campaign and they are:- Mr. Anil Ambani .

Swachh Bharat Short Film NIT Rourkela PHD students have made a short film On Swachh Bharat and they conveyed the message that Swachh Bharat is not a one day event, it should be part of our life, then only we can achieve our goal Swachh Bharat (Clean India ).
