REVIEW

OBJECTIVES At the end of the lesson the student will be able to: 1 .Define and i dentify the causes and effects of climate change. 2. Realized the importance of having knowledge about climate change. 3. Determine ways on how to take care of the environment.

1. What can you say about the song? 2. What does the song implying for us human? Guide Questions

1. What can you say about the song? 2. What does the song implying for us human? Guide Questions

DRAW YOUR THOUGHTS D raw your idea about what is climate change and how it occurs in the blank face. ACTIVITY

WHAT IS CLIMATE CHANGE? Climate change refers to  LONG-TERM SHIFTS IN TEMPERATURES AND WEATHER PATTERNS. These shifts may be natural, such as through variations in the solar cycle.

CAUSES AND EFFECTS OF CLIMATE CHAGE

The causes of Climate change Generating power Cutting down forests Using transportation Consuming too much

The causes of Climate change Generating power by burning fossil fuels such as coal, oil and natural gas causes a large chunk of global emissions.

Cutting down of Forest CUTTING DOWN OF TREES   Deforestation purposeful clearing of forested land

The causes of Climate Change Using transportation Using transportation That makes transportation a major contributor of greenhouse gases, especially carbon-dioxide emissions.

Consuming too much T he stuff or product we consum e is responsible for up to 60 percent of global greenhouse gas emissions.

Effects of the Climate Change What and who are the affected? Hotter Temperature A warmer, Rising Ocean Loss of Species Not enough food More health risk

Hotter Temperature HIGHER TEMPERATURES INCREASE HEAT-RELATED ILLNESSES and can make it more difficult to work and move around. Wildfires start more easily and spread more rapidly when conditions are hotter.

Effects of the Climate Change A warmer, rising ocean THIS MELTS ICE SHEETS AND RAISES SEA LEVELS, THREATENING COASTAL AND ISLAND COMMUNITIES.

Loss of Species Climate change poses RISKS TO THE SURVIVAL OF SPECIES ON LAND AND IN THE OCEAN .

NOT ENOUGH FOOD Changes in climate and increases in extreme weather events are among the reasons behind a global rise in HUNGER AND POOR NUTRITION. FISHERIES CROPS, AND LIVESTOCK MAY BE DESTROYED OR BECOME LESS PRODUCTIVE.

MORE HEALTH RISK death, and make it difficult for health care systems to keep up. Other rihealth include increased hunger and poor nutrition in places where people cannot grow or find sufficient food.

The affected of Climate Change. W ild animals and humans ,  face new challenges for survival because of climate change. More frequent and intense drought, storms, heat waves, rising sea levels, melting glaciers and warming oceans can directly harm animals, destroy the places they live and communities.

AS A STUDENT WHAT WILL YOU DO TO PREVENT OR LESSEN THE CAUSES AND EFFECTS OF INCREASING EARTH’S TEMPERATURE THAT LEADS TO CLIMATE CHANGE?

SHORT QUIZ

Which of the following human activities DOES NOT contribute to enhanced climate change? Always using cars when going even to short distance places. Joining in tree planting activities whenever possible. Rallying against the use of renewable energy. d. Chopping down rainforests

2. Climate change is a phenomenon in which the Earth’s climate warms or cools over long periods of time. True False Maybe None of the above

3. The effects of climate change include rising sea levels, drought, water shortages, crop failure, floods, and extreme weather conditions. True False Maybe None of the above

4. Is land and ocean temperature increase and rising ocean levels is a proof of global climate change indicators? Yes No Maybe None of the above

5. Which of the following is a long-term change in the average weather patterns? Greenhouse effect Global warming Ocean currents Climate change
