Current Situation in Indonesia’s Coal Industry Indonesia Produced 775mnt of coal in 2023, surpassing the set target of 695mnt. From the total amount produced in 2023, 518mnt (66%) were exported. Indonesian government has set targets to produce 710mnt of coal in 2024 with production YTD August 2024 has reached 541mnt [76,22%] In 2023 Coal contributes 39.69% of share towards total energy supply. Which still overall the highest contributor after Oil at 29.91% Despite this, Indonesian government still committed to gradually reduce coal output, aiming for production of only 250mnt annually by 2060.
