CLOUD COMPUTING

Cloud computing is a computing paradigm where a large pool of systems are connected in private or public networks to provide dynamically scalable infrastructure for application, data and file storage. Cloud computing providers deliver applications via the internet, which are accessed from web browsers, desktop and mobile apps, while the business software and data are stored on servers at a remote location Cloud Computing

Essential characteristics On demand self-service Ubiquitous network access Location independent resource pooling Rapid elasticity Measured service

Rapid elasticity Rapid elasticity in cloud computing refers to the ability to: Scale resources dynamically in response to changing demands Quickly increase or decrease computing resources to meet changing demand and minimize costs2. Provide on-demand access to resources like processing power, storage, and network bandwidth3. Enable automatic adjustments to computing resources based on predefined criteria or dynamically changing conditions

Software as a Service( SaaS ) Platform as a Service( PaaS ) Infrastructure as a Service( IaaS ) Cloud Computing Models

Software as a Service( SaaS ) In this model, a complete application is offered to the customer, as a service on demand. A single instance of the service runs on the cloud & multiple end users are serviced. Companies offered saas include Google, Salesforce , Microsoft, Zoho .

Here, a layer of software, or development environment is encapsulated & offered as a service. The customer has the freedom to build his own applications, which run on the provider‟s infrastructure. LAMP platform (Linux, Apache, MySql and PHP), J2EE are the platforms provided by this model. Examples of PaaS : Google‟s App Engine, Force.com,etc .. Platform as a Service( PaaS )

IaaS provides services like storage, database management and computing capabilities. Some common examples are Amazon, GoGrid , 3 Tera . Infrastructure as a Service( IaaS )

Why cc? it enables faster time to market, simplified innovation, and scalability. It reduces IT infrastructure costs. It allows for collaboration through remotely accessible centralized storage. It increases security. It provides flexibility for shifting customer needs. It offers greater flexibility and scalability compared to traditional on-premises infrastructure. It plays a pivotal role in everyday activities like accessing cloud applications, streaming media, and playing cloud- hosted video games.

CLOUD STORAGE PROVIDING COMPANIES

Advantages Lower computer costs Improved performance Reduced software costs Instant software updates Improved document format compatibility Unlimited storage capacity Increased data reliability Universal document access Latest version availability Easier group collaboration Device independence

• A physical storage center is no longer needed • Most have a pay structure that only calls for payment only when used • Relieves burden on IT Professionals and frees up their time in the office • Easily scalable so companies can add or subtract storage based on their own needs Advantages:

Disadvantages Requires a constant Internet connection Does not work well with low-speed connection Features might be limited Can be slow Stored data might not be secure Stored data can be lost
