Geography

Climate Because of the country's close proximity to the Equator, its climate is generally tropical and isothermal (without any real change of seasons).

Government Structure The Republic of Colombia has  a presidential system of government . The extant constitution dates back to 1991. The Government of Colombia is a republic with separation of powers into executive, judicial and legislative branches. Its legislature has a congress, its judiciary has a supreme court, and its executive branch has a president.

Currency $1 USD = 4,069.71 Colombian Pesos

Wealth Distribution The top one percent of the country's population possesses $229.7 billion USD, or 37.3 percent of Colombia's total wealth, which is currently at $616 billion USD for 2021. The top ten percent has nearly three-quarters of the nation's wealth, meanwhile the bottom half of the population retains a mere 1.6 percent.

Terrorism Ocurrences On March 26, 2021 FARC-EP detonated a car bomb outside of a mayoral office in  Corinto , Cauca, 37 miles south of Cali, Colombia’s third-largest city.  The bombing injured 43 people.

Labor Force Colombia Labor Force Participation Rate dropped to 63.9 % in May 2023, compared with 64.6 % in the previous month. Colombia's Labor Force Participation Rate is updated monthly, available from Jan 2001 to May 2023, with an average rate of 66.4 % .

Inflation Rate The annual inflation rate in Colombia slowed for the fourth consecutive month to 11.78% in July 2023, down from the previous month's 12.13% and slightly above the market expectation of 11.61%. This marked the lowest reading since September 2022

Infrastructure  EL Dorado Airport served over 35 million passengers in 2019 and 740,000 metric tons of cargo in 2018, [3]  making it the second busiest airport in South America in terms of passenger traffic and the busiest in terms of cargo traffic.

Longest Highway National Route 45. Starts in the border with Ecuador in Putumayo Department, and ends in the north of the country in the Magdalena Department.
