Competition It is the form of impersonalized struggle or opposition to secure a reward or goal which cannot be shared. It is a form of disjoint action between opposing individuals or group aimed to excel, surpass or outdo the opponent in order to achieve the goal.
Forms f competition 1. Social competition:- People always compete to get into higher status and position. Competition of this kind is mostly observed in ‘open’ society. wherever individual ability, merits, talent and capacities are recognised, competition for status is acute. 2. Political competition:- In the modern world competition for political power is always present. Political parties are always engaged in competition to secure power.
3. Economic competition:- Generally, economic competition is found in the field of economic activities. It means a race between he individuals and groups to achieve certain material goods . For example, competition between two industrial sectors for the production of goods. 4 . cultural competition :- Cultural competition is found among different cultures: It occurs when two or more cultures try to establish their superiority over others The religious competition between the Hindus and Muslims in present day is a bright example of cultural competition.
Characteristics of competition 1.it is universal:- competition is found every society and in every age. It is found in every group. It is one aspect of struggle which is universal not only in human society but also in the plant and animal worlds. 2. it is impersonal:- competition is not a personal action. It is an ‘interaction without social contact.” The competitors are not in contact and do not know one another.
