3. Eligibility for MEO Class 4   Should have sailed for period of not less than 6 months Sailing engines more or equal to the power 750 KW . Should be above 18 years of age. There is a concept of propelling times also, which means that actually how many days, engine has run. This can be roughly 70-80% of your total sailing period. At the time of sign of candidates should have sea service letter from the ship, stating the days you have sailed with propelling days also . Certificate should be taken with signature from master and chief signature . Better is to take sailing certiMcate from each master and Chief Engineer you sailed with.

How to Apply for MEO Class 4B Exam Exams are conducted all over the India in different MMD like Kolkata, Mumbai, Chennai, Vizag, Delhi etc. Each MMD has a schedule of submitting file in the first or second week of month. The information of file submission can be confirmed at MMD, in which you wish to give exam.

7. How to apply for MEO class 4A exemption Instructions: 1] Confirm the date thoroughly, cross-check and be present on that date. Come on time. 2] Not necessary to be in formals, but it makes us look professional. But don't wear Jeans or casuals either. 3] CARRY ALL YOUR ORIGINAL DOCUMENTS, RIGHT FROM CLASS 10TH. When I say ALL, I mean ALL. Including those issued to you by your college. 4) BEFORE YOU COME TO MUMBAI MMD, ENSURE THAT YOUR NAME IS PRESENT ON THE PROFORMA 'B' ISSUED BY YOUR COLLEGE.   (PROFORMA B acts as an endorsement that you attended the course in that particular college, during that year/years. )

8. The Process : 1] The MMD People call the guys by College Name. 2 ] When you are called, prepare all your original documents for verification. The order goes by the checklist which you can find later in this blog 3 ] You need to present the DG approval letter of your training institute. take a printout from here--->  www.dgshipping.gov.in ---> Maritime Training---> Approved Training Institutes . 4]   When verification is complete, they will ask you to enter your name and some form numbers in a register. Enter them and you would get a checklist, A Form-15, A Bank Challan and EXN-45 Booklet. REMEMBER YOUR SERIAL NUMBER OF THE REGISTER .

9. 5] You start off by taking the relevant photocopies of the documents as required by the checklist AND arrange them in the order defined by the Checklist. Self Attest (Put your signature) on each of the xerox copy and Staple them WITH THE CHECKLIST ON THE TOP. 6] Go to Syndicate Bank Challan Counter, which is at the same place where Yellow Fever Vaccination is administered, i.e. besides MMD Office, fill up the challan form and pay the amount of Rs 1550/-. 7] Now, get back to the MMD office and wait. They will call candidates in batches to issue instructions as on how to fill. Instructions will be given in English, as well as Hindi.  BE ATTENTIVE, AND PLEASE DO CLARIFY ANY DOUBTS YOU HAVE HERE ITSELF. 8] If you make mistakes, don't worry, you can make corrections using correction-pen .  BUT THAT DOES NOT MEAN THAT YOU MAKE MISTAKES. FILL UP VERY CAREFULLY. 9] After filling up, have your lunch and wait in the ground floor. The officials will come and call everyone up to Examination centre . In-case you missed out, just go up to the Examination Centre. 10] STAY IN THE EXAMINATION CENTRE IF AND ONLY IF YOUR SERIAL NUMBER IS WITHIN THOSE WHO HAVE BEEN ASKED TO STAY. ELSE GO HOME, RELAX AND HAVE FUN AND RETURN THE NEXT DAY. AND AS I SAID EARLIER, REMEMBER YOUR SERIAL NUMBER.

10. 11] Your originals will be verified again, along with your Stapled Checklist and Photo-copies. MAKE SURE YOUR COPIES ARE IN THE ORDER AS DEFINED BY THE CHECKLIST AND STAPLED TO THE CHECKLIST. 12]Your name would be verified from the College's  'PROFORMA-B'  which is sent to MMD Office before-hand. Hence the need to ensure that your name is there in Proforma -B. You Enter your details in a register here again. 13] Put those in a transparent folder. You can buy one from the stationary shops nearby. Next, your Form-15 and EXN-45 Booklet would be stamped and you would be told to go in to the surveyor's office for signatures. 14] Don't worry. The surveyor won't ask any questions here. Just take the signatures, go  out and take photo-copies of the 1st and 2nd page of the EXN-45 Booklet. 15] Now, put the photo-copies in the Form-15, put the Exn-45 Booklet xerox behind it, and put all of them back in the transparent folder and drop it in the specified bin. DO NOT PUT YOUR BOOKLET ANYWHERE. TAKE THE BOOKLET ALONG WITH YOU.

14. Documents Required For Applying Photo Copy of below documents : 10th and 12 th class mark sheet and passing certificate Your Degree of passing pre sea course . All Modular Courses Certificate Sea Service Letter Photographs EXN-45- You get when you have part A exemption . Medical Certificate from a registered DG approved doctor , with validity of 6 or 12 month from date of applying for exam.

16. MEO Class 4B Exam Booking Generally the booking starts after 31st of every month. This is done by going through e- pariksha portal. There you have to book the slot and subjects you wish to appear for.

17. Exam Fee In FIrst booking, you have to spend, Rs 11000. This is as follows Rs 3000 for assessment Rs 1000 for each oral and written. There are 4 functions-including 6 written and 4 orals. In total Rs 8000. Note: After cleaning all the written and Orals, you have to apply for certiFIcate of competency which cost Rs 3000.

18. Syllabus for MEO Class 4B There is no predefined syllabus for this examination, but yes based on the studies that students have done, you can see syllabus that you studied in your pre sea. Mostly all the topics are those, which you must have, studied while you were doing your pre sea course. The only difference is that, now you have to study everything in relation to real scenario that happens on ship.
