haJj

Hajj is the fifth basic duty of Islam Hajj is a visit to the Kabah in Makkah during the 12th Month of the Islamic calender – Dhul Hijjah Hajj is an act of worship to please Allah A Muslim tries to make pilgrimage at least once in a lifetime. WHAT IS HAJJ?

Hajj Al- Tamattu Umrah + Hajj Hajj Al- Qiran Umrah + Hajj Hajj Al- Ifrad Hajj TYPES OF HAJJ

Tamattu '. This is the most common form of pilgrimage and the one recommended by the Prophet Muhammad himself (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). [4] Tamattu ' involves the pilgrim performing the rites of the minor pilgrimage ritual known as Umrah ,  then  performing the rites of the Hajj. Pilgrims performing Tamattu ' are called  Mutamatti . As this is the most common type of pilgrimage, especially for foreigners to Saudi Arabia,  the rest of this guide assumes you will  HAJJ AL TAMATTU

Qiran . In this option, the pilgrim performs the rites of both the Umrah and Hajj in one continuous act with no "break" in the middle. Pilgrims performing Qiran are called  Qaarin . HAJJ AL QIRAN

Ifraad . Finally, this form of pilgrimage involves performing only the rites of the Hajj - not of the Umrah as well. This form of pilgrimage is also notable for being the only one that does not require animal sacrifice. Pilgrims performing Ifraad are called  Mufrid . HAJJ AL IFRAD

[النسائي و الترمذي] Follow between Hajj and Umra for they chase away poverty and sins just as a blacksmith's bellows removes impurities from iron, gold and silver, and there is no reward for a Hajj mabrur less than Jannah . [ Nasa'ee and Tirmidhee ]

HajjHajj ...Allah made it compulsory for every Muslim male and female to perform Hajj once in a life time, provided they have the means and are physically able to do so. It is one of the five pillars of Islam. It was prescribed in the sixth year of the Hijrah [the migration of the messenger] [peace be upon him] from Makah to Madinah . A Muslim who denies the obligatory nature of Hajj becomes a disbeliever. A person who has the ability to make a Hajj and does not do so will be accountable on the day of Judgement . THE HAJJ WHY , WHEN AND HOW WE PERFORM HAJJ?

• Muslim • Free • Sound state of mind • Adult • Healthy • Possession of extra wealth that suffices for transportation, provisions, and maintenance of one’s family or other financial obligations till return • Women require a Mahram HAJJ IS OBLIGATORY WITH THE FOLLOWING CONDITIONS

KABAH WHAT IS THE KABAH?

The Kabah is the house of Allah in the city of Makkah in Saudi Arabia It is a large cube-shaped building covered with a large black cloth, with gold Arabic calligraphy Muslims must face towards the Kabah at the time of prayer. This direction is called the Qiblah . KABAH

IBRAHIM WHO WAS IBRAHIM ?

The second most important moment celebrated by Hajj is the occasion when the loyalty of Ibrahim was put to the test. Ibrahim had vowed to sacrifice everything in his life to Allah. He took his son to a place call Mina to sacrifice him but on the way he had to pelt satan 3 times to leave him alone as Satan was telling Ibrahim not to follow what Allah had told him. IBRAHIM

Allah was so pleased with Ibrahim and his willingness to sacrifice his son A Ram was placed where Ibrahim’s son stood and was slaughtered . This day is an important day in Hajj and for all Muslims around the world . This day is known as Eid -Al- Adha ( Eid of Sacrifice). On this day Muslims around the world sacrifice an animal and feed it to poor people. IBRAHIM

'Abdullah ( raa ) as saying: I heard (and I think he carried it directly to the Apostle of Allah) him saying: For the people of Medina Dhu'l-Hulaifa is the place for entering upon the state of Ihram, and for (the people coming through the other way, i . e. Syria) it is Juhfa ; for the people of Iraq it is Dbatu ' Irq ; for the people of Najd it is Qarn (al- Manazil ) and for the people of Yemen it is Yalamlam . [Muslim]

THE MAWAQIT عن ابن عمر رضي الله عنهما قال لما فتح هذان المصران أتوا عمر فقالوا يا أمير المؤمنين إن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم حد لأهل نجد قرنا وهو جور عن طريقنا وإنا إن أردنا قرنا شق علينا قال فانظروا حذوها من طريقكم فحد لهم ذات عرق [ البخاري ] Narrated Ibn 'Umar: When these two towns (Basra and Kufa ) were opened, the people went to 'Umar and said, "O Chief of the faithful believers! The Prophet fixed Qarn as the Meeqat for the people of Najd, it is beyond our way and it is difficult for us to pass through it." He said, "Take as your Meeqat a place situated opposite to Qarn on your usual way. So, he fixed Dhatu ' Irq (as their Meeqat )." [ Bukhari ]

• The mawaqit which it is not permissible for a person to pass except in the state of ihram are: for the people of Madinah : Dhu’l-Hulayfah 400 Km for the people of `Iraq : Dhatu-`Irq , 89 kms for the people of the Levant (al-Sham) : al- Juhfah , 187 Km for the people of Najd : Qarn al- Manazil , 85 Kms for the people of Yemen : Yalamlam . 85 Kms THE MAWAQIT

Allah is the greatest, Allah is the greatest, Allah is the greatest, How perfect He is, The One Who has placed this (transport) at our service, and we ourselves would not have been capable of that, and to our Lord is our final destiny. TALBIYA What is Talbiya ?

Here I am,Oh Allah here I am – Here I am, no partner do You have, here I am. Verily all praise is Yours, and every bounty is from You, and all dominion is Yours, -no partner do You have. TALBIYA

TALBIYA TALBIYA Recite in Multiples of 3 Recite Darood -e- Shariff After every prayer Recite Intensively Men recite Loudly Women recite softly Reply to Allah’s call given by Ibrahim ( a.s ) Everything recites Talbiya (Do not recite in mind) Avoid interrupting Don’t reduce words Keep reciting Talbiya till you enter Masjid – Al- Haram .

Talbiyah should be made in a loud voice The Prophet ( pbuh ) said: Jibreel came to me and asked me to tell my companions to raise their voices with Ihlal (i.e. Talbiyah ).

Narrated Abu-Bakr As- Siddeeq ( raa ): the Prophet ( pbuh ) was asked: what is the best of Hajj? He said: al-' ajj (i.e. raising the voice with Talbiyah ) and ath-Thajj (i.e. shedding blood for the sake of Allah: animal sacrifice).

Talbiyah is a Sunnah , but some scholars consider it a Wajib and require an animal sacrifice ( hady ) for omitting it. Making Taliyah in a low voice is against the Sunnah of the Prophet ( pbuh ). It should be recited aloud. Repeating the Talbiyah after a "guide" is also against the Sunnah . The Companions of the Prophet ( pbuh ) used to recite it individually. TALBIYA

(the mountains) As- Safa and Al- Marwah are among the indications of Allah. When you reach the green sign, men are to hasten their walk for a while, but do not run. Then return to your normal phase of walk at the next green sign. Upon reaching Mount Marwah repeat the same procedure as when ascending Mount Safaa (face the Qibla , raise your hands and repeat what was said on Mount Safaa .) This completes one circuit. Continue and complete in total 7 circuits, ending the last one on Mount Marwah . Sa’y 5. SAI

Then ascend upon Mount Safaa , face the Qiblah , raise your hands and recite 3 times: الله أكبر، الله أكبر، الله أكبر لا إله إلا الله وحده لا شريك له، له الملك وله الحمد، يحيي و يميت، و هو على كل شيء قدير لا إله إلا الله وحده لا شريك له، أنجز وعده و نصر عبده Make du'aa to Allah with whatever you wish Sa’y 5.
