Compressed air has been used since the 19th century
to locomotives and trains.
Dennis Papinapparently came up with the idea of
using compressed air (Royal Society London, 1687).
In 1872 the Mekarskiair engine was used for street
transit, consisting of a single stage engine.

Refueling takes 3-4 hours
Limited capacity of storage tanks.
Limited speed range (110-140 Km).
When air expands in the engine it cools dramatically
and must be heated to ambient temperature.
Since this engine is not yet common it cannot be
refilled at home but needs a compressor.
