About This Presentation

In other words topology is a physical arrangement of the combination of connecting computers in a network.

Network topology is the arrangement of the elements of a communication network. Network topology can be used to define or describe the arrangement of various types of telecommunication networ...

Things covered Introduction Of Topology Types Of Topology Ring Topology Bus Topology Star Topology Tree Topology Mesh Topology Discussion Reference Page:04

Defination Topology defines the structure of the network of how all the components are interconnected to each other.  In other words topology is a physical arrangement of the combination of connecting computers in a network . Page:05

Types of topology Tree and Mesh topology Page:06

Ring topology ADVANTAGES Suitable for short cables. Good for optical fibres . DISADVANTAGES The access protocol can be affected. Network configuration is difficult. In a ring topology, devices are connected in a circular manner, where each device is connected to exactly two other devices, forming a closed loop. Data travels in one direction around the ring, passing through each device until it reaches its destination. While this setup is efficient for data transmission, a single break in the ring can disrupt the entire network. Fig:1 Page:07

Bus topology ADVANTAGES Short cable length. Simple wiring Easy to use. DISADVANTAGES Fault identification is hard. Isolating network issue is hard. In a bus topology, all devices are connected to a single central cable called the bus. It's allowing devices to communicate by sending data along the same line. However, if there's a problem with the main cable, the entire network can be affected. Fig:2 Page:08

Star topology ADVANTAGES Identifying faults is easier. Isolating issue is easy. DISADVANTAGES The cable length is long. The expansion is difficult. In a star topology, all devices are connected to a central hub or switch. This setup simplifies troubleshooting and makes it easy to add or remove devices, but if the central hub fails, the connected devices lose communication. Fig:3 Page:09

Tree topology ADVANTAGES Its easy to expand. Fault isolation is easier. DISADVANTAGES Dependent on the root. The installation process is difficult. Tree topology is like a combination of bus and star topologies. It has a main cable with branches connecting to smaller sub-networks. This structure allows for expansion and organization, but if the main trunk fails, it can disrupt the entire network. Fig:4 Page:10

Mesh topology ADVANTAGES Computers are interconnected. The internet is an example. DISADVANTAGES Its costly. The efficiency is not 100%. In a mesh topology, every device is connected to every other device in the network. It's like a web of interconnected devices, providing multiple paths for data to travel. This redundancy ensures reliability and fault tolerance, but it can be expensive to set up and maintain due to the numerous connections. Fig:5 Page:11

Discussion Following the completion of the topology presentation slide. we acquired knowledge about numerous topological kinds as well as presentation slide creation. We have used Google and YouTube to help us tackle a number of challenges that have been encountered. In addition to being essential for numerous step a student of CSE department must take. topology may serve as a reminder of the architecture and foundation of computers. The teacher of our course made all effort to aid us in comprehending the content, which may be beneficial to individuals in all walks of life. Page:12
