lover of history I found the concept of a British war in the Soudan to be far more intriguing than the
other nonfictions on my shelf. In general I thought this book was really informative and interesting as
a record of the events of the Mahdist War in the Soudan, however I found it to be an extraordinarily
slow read, with the author in my opinion taking far too much effort to describe every single event in

Whenever I see flowers growing on the ground outside I always think of one of my favorite lines from
one of my favorite stories that says There are flowers in your brain, You hurt them when you re mean
to yourself. When you re nice to yourself, you give the flowers water and sunshine.Be nice to your
flowers, don t step on them. I love this quote because even though the story is about a girl who has an
abusive uncle, kills him in self defense, forgets everything and is basically a child, and then somehow
made it to New York to visit a girl she hasn t seen since high school, I believe that this line is an
extremely important thing for everyone to take to heart and do. The story also shows that even though
Mila treated Lo horribly in high school and basically ruined all of Lo s high school life the girls still
let Mila stay with them when she just randomly showed up at the apartment asking for a bed. Also one
of the main characters really reminds me of one of my best friends, sweet, childlike, and innocent.
When they opened the old burgundy colored front door of their apartment, there standing in the dimly
lit, olive green, the wallpapered hallway was a girl about their age, maybe around 19, with long
flowing wavy brown hair that went down to her waist. The girl was looking down at the dirty tan
carpeted floor of the hallway, tracing one of the diamond patterns on the ground with the toe of her
dirt covered, white, Converse. Her hands seemed to be folded behind her back as she was rocking
back and forth tracing the diamond pattern on the cheap carpet. Then the brunette suddenly stopped,
seeming to sense that the door had been opened, and looked up. The stranger was wearing a sunflower
yellow hoodie that was at least a two sizes too big for her, the hem of it hitting her about mid thigh,
and a pair of close cut light wash skinny jeans that were ripped at the knees. Her eyes were the color
of hot chocolate made with milk, and they were open wide making her look innocent and almost
childlike. The only makeup she appeared to be wearing was a little bit of mascara and clear lipgloss.

The following speech focuses on how prolonged exposure to porn affects men and women, more
specifically how it affects the hypothalamus in the male brain. Men watch more porn than woman so I
first hypothesized that this difference in viewing weakens the hypothalamus and in turn leads to
desensitization with the act of natural sex. I then found scholarly sources to support my overall claims.

What is Self Image?
A person s self image can depend on many factors, to include internal/external and perceived/actual.
Their answer when asked What do you believe people think about you? can provide a very succinct
view of their self image and possibly how it is formed. The concept of self is derived from many traits
usually perceived as demographic information (gender, height, weight, race, etc.) but also other less
measurable components such as personal experiences or internalized judgements from others.
Self image may consist of three types:
1. Self image resulting from how the individual sees himself or herself.
2. Self image resulting from how others see the individual.
3. Self image resulting from how the individual perceives others see him or her.
These three types may or may not be an accurate representation of the person. All, some or none of
them may be true.
Cognitive and social psychologists have given self image a more technical term self schema which

Growing up in such a majorly diversified city, and having attended public schools all of my life, I
barely encountered racism of any sort. It was something that was not discussed often in my home or
anywhere else, outside of my knowledge of slavery s history in America or what I ve seen in movies.
Having friends and family from so many different countries, backgrounds, and ethnicities, it was
tough relating to any direct form of discrimination that I know others around me have encountered.

for people of color stared me right in face, as if it was my time to finally confront something I have
never been exposed to. This was one of many life changing events that has happened to me, though it

Ratio Analysis The return on capital employed (ROCE) ratio is a profitability ratio that measures how
well profits are being generated based on capital employed. RadioShack s ROCE dropped down to
34% in 2013 in comparison to 10% in 2012. For every dollar of capital employed, RadioShack is
losing $0.34. The dramatic dip stems from 2012 s positive earnings before interest and taxes (EBIT)
of 155.1 million dollars to 2013 s EBIT of 344 million dollars (see Appendix A for financial statement
data). Capital employed is determined by subtracting current liabilities from total assets. In 2013,
capital employed decreased by 79 million dollars. ROCE is used to view the long term profitability of
firms ( Financial Dictionary ). A more in depth trend analysis done over several years would need to
