Group Activity Advanced Statistics Is there a relationship between the length of the arm span and the height of a person? What do you think? Is there a relationship between the amount of daily allowance and the weight of a student? What do you think?
Scatter plot Advanced Statistics A scatter plot shows how each point collected from a set of bivariate data are scattered on the Cartesian plane. It gives a good visual picture of the two variables which helps in finding the relationship that exists between the two variables. A scatter plot is a graphical representation of the relationship between two variables.
Trend Line Advanced Statistics The line that is closest to the points is called the trend line . It indicates the direction- whether positive or negative as denoted by the slope of the line. The closeness of the points to the trend line determines the strength of the association. The closer the points are to the line, the stronger is the correlation.
Trend Line Advanced Statistics A perfect correlation exists when all the points fall in the trend line. A perfect correlation maybe positive or negative. Perfect correlation happens only when other variables that may affect the relationship between the two variables are controlled.

Correlation Advanced Statistics The degree of relationship between variables.
Correlation Advanced Statistics If Y tends to increase as X increases, the correlation is called a positive or direct correlation . If Y tends to decrease as X increases, the correlation is called a negative or inverse correlation . Let X and Y denote the two variables under consideration.
Correlation Advanced Statistics A data reflected that the number of butters bought for a certain year is positively correlated to the number of divorce for that year.
