Recycled Décor

What is Recycling?

Recycling is the process of collecting and turning used or waste materials into new products instead of throwing them away. It helps reduce waste, save natural resources, and protect the environment.

Recycled décor refers to decorative items created from used, discarded, or waste materials that are transformed into new, functional, or artistic objects. Instead of throwing these materials away, they are repurposed and given a second life as decorations.

Recycling + Creativity: Combines the principle of recycling (reducing waste) with artistic creativity to produce unique designs. Sustainability: Promotes environmental awareness by reducing trash and conserving resources. Practical & Aesthetic: The items can serve both as decorations (aesthetic purpose) and sometimes as useful objects (practical purpose).

Examples of Recycled Decor

Bottle Lamp- Glass bottles turned into table lamps or hanging lights.

Jar Lanterns- Old mason jars or sauce jars decorated and used as candle holders or fairy-light lanterns.

Plastic Bottle PlantersCut plastic bottles designed as pots for plants or vertical gardens.

Paper Bead Curtains/Jewelry-Rolled magazine or newspaper strips made into colorful beads for décor or accessories.

CD Mosaic Art- Broken or old CDs cut into shapes and glued as reflective mosaic décor.

Tin Can Holders- Painted tin cans reused as pencil holders, desk organizers, or flower vases.

Fabric Scrap Rugs- Woven mats or rugs created from old T-shirts, jeans, or textile scraps.

Parol (Filipino Lantern) from Recycled Materials- Traditional Filipino star lantern crafted using recycled plastic bottles, straws, or cartons .✨

🌸 Flower from Plastic Bottles or Paper Cut and shaped plastic bottles or used paper to form flowers. Bright, eye-catching, and eco-friendly.

Handmade Crafts

Handmade crafts are objects or decorative items that are created by hand rather than by machines. They involve the use of simple tools and raw or natural materials to produce functional or decorative products. These crafts highlight creativity, patience, and personal skill.

Made by Hand: Crafted with human skill, not mass-produced by factories. Unique & Personal: Each piece is often one-of-a-kind. Cultural Value: Many handmade crafts reflect traditions, customs, and heritage. Practical & Decorative: They can be useful items (bags, baskets, clothing) or purely artistic (paintings, ornaments).

Examples of Handmade Crafts

Weaving The art of interlacing fibers or materials (like abaca, pandan, rattan, or fabric strips) to create mats, baskets, bags, or textiles. Example: Banig (traditional Filipino mat).

Pottery The craft of shaping and baking clay to form jars, pots, bowls, or vases. Example: Clay jars (banga) used for water storage.

Woodcarving The skill of cutting and shaping wood into decorative or useful objects like furniture, sculptures, or religious figures. Example: Ifugao wooden bulul
