Some busy streets have traffic lights with a button I can push.
When I push the button I need to wait on the footpath for the green man to appear.
I need to look to the right and left and then right again to check there are no moving vehicles.
Then it is safe to cross the street.
Some streets in the neighbourhood do not have lights.
When I get to the edge of the road where there are no traffic lights, I need to stop and wait. I need to look to the left then the right and then the left again.
If there are no moving vehicles it is safe to cross the road. I can cross the road.
If there are moving vehicles I need to stop and wait until the they have all past. I need to look to the left then the right and then the left again.
I should never cross the street without checking that it is safe. Moving vehicles may not see me and I could get hurt.
I will usually have an adult to help me cross the road. It is important to know safety rules when I cross the road. My family are happy when they know I am safe.
