4 Guwahati Refinery, IOCL ( ASSAM) : Guwahati Refinery, the first in public sector, was set up in collaboration with Rumania at a cost of Rs.17.29 cr. Hydrotreater Unit for improving the quality of diesel has been installed and was commissioned in 2002. Current capacity : 1.0MMTPA Products: Indane Gas, Auto Gas, Natural Gas, Petrol/Gasoline, Diesel/Gas oil, ATF/Jet Fuel, SERVO lubricants & greases, Marine Fuels & Lubricants, Kerosene, Bulk/Industrial Fuels, Bitumen, Petrochemicals, Special Products, Crude Oil Barauni Refinery, IOCL (BIHAR ): Barauni Refinery in Eastern India was built in collaboration with the Soviet Union at cost of Rs. 49.9cr. A catalytic reformer unit was also added to refinery in 1997 for production of unleaded motor spirit. Current capacity : 6.00MMTPA Koyali Refinery, IOCL (GUJARAT ): The Gujarat refinery was built soviet assistance at a cost of RS. 26 cr. and went on stream in October,1965. The refining capacity was increased to 12.5 MMTPA with commissioning of 3MMTPA CDU in September, 1999. Current capacity : 13.70MMTPA

5 Mathura Refinery , IOCL (UP ) : The Mathura refinery with a capacity of 6 MMTPA was set up as a cost of Rs. 253.92 cr. The refinery was commissioned in January,1982. Present refining capacity of this refinery is 8 MMTPA . Current capacity : 8.00MMTPA   Digboi Refinery (ASSAM ) : The refinery was set up at Digboi in 1901 by Assam Oil Company Limited. Took over the refinery and marketing management of assam oil company Ltd. With effect from 14.10.1981 and created a separate division. Current capacity : 0.65MMTPA   Panipat Refinery , IOCL (HARYANA ) : The refinery was set up in1998 at baholi village in distt . Panipat , at a cost of Rs. 3868 cr. The refining capacity of this refinery is 6 MMTPA. The expansion of refining capacity from 6 to 12 MMTPA is in under implementation and is expected to completed by end 2005 . 6 Mumbai Refinery, HPCL (MAHARASHTRA ) : The refinery at Mumbai came into stream in1954 under the ownership of ESSO. In march,1974 Govt. of India acquired it. Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd. Was formed on 15.07.1974 after the merger of these companies. Current capacity : 6.5MMTPA Products: Fuel Oil, High Sulphur Gas oil, Naphtha, Packed Bitumen, Food grade Hexane, Lube oil base stock   Visakh Refinery, HPCL (AP ) : In 1957, Visakh refinery went on stream under ownership of M/s Caltex India Ltd. In may, 1978, M/s Caltex Oil Refinery (India) was amalgamated with Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd. The installed capacity of 1.5 MMTPA was increased to 4.5 MMTPA in 1985 and 7.5 MMTPA in 1999. Current capacity : 15.30MMTPA   Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd., BPCL (MAHARASHTRA ) : The refinery at Mumbai came into stream in January ,1955 under the ownership of Burmah -Shell Refinery Ltd. Which was changed to Bharat refinery Limited on 11.02.1976. The installed capacity of 5.25 MMTPA was increased to 6 MMTPA in 1985. The present refining capacity of the refinery is 6.9 MMTPA . Current capacity : 12.00MMTPA Products : Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG), Propylene, Naphtha, Gasoline, Benzene, Toluene, Bitumen, Aviation Turbine Fuel, Superior Kerosene Oil, High-Speed Diesel, Sulphur.

7 Manali Refinery-Chennai Petroleum Corporation Ltd ., CPCL (Tamil Nadu) : Chennai Petroleum Corporation Limited , formerly known as Madras Refinery Limited was formed as joint venture in 1965 between the government of India , AMOCO and National Iranian Oil Company, refinery was set up with an installed capacity of 2.5 MMTPA . Current Capacity: 10.50MMTPA Products: LPG, Motor Spirit, Superior Kerosene, Aviation Turbine Fuel, High Speed Diesel, Naphtha, Bitumen, Lube Base Stocks, Paraffin Wax, Fuel Oil, Hexane and Petrochemical feed stocks .   Cauvey Vasin Refinery, CPCL ( Nagapattinam – Tamil Nadu) : CPCL’s second refinery is located at cauvery basin at nagapattinam . The initial unit was set up in nagapattinam with a capacity of 0.5 MMTPA in 1993. Current Capacity: 1 MMTPA Products: LPG , Naphtha, Superior Kerosene, High Speed Diesel and LSHS Kochi Refinery Limited, KRL (KERALA ) : The Kochi Refineries Ltd. Is a public sector undertaking set up, with installed capacity of 2.5 MMTPA was increased to 7.5 MMTPA in December, 1995. Current Capacity: 9.50 MMTPA Products: Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) and Superior Kerosene Oil (SKO) for households and industrial uses. Motor Spirit (MS/ Petrol) and Hi-speed Diesel (HSD) for automobiles.  

8 Bongaigaon Refinery & Petrochemicals Ltd., BRPL (ASSAM ) : On 20 th January, 1974, M/s BRPL was incorporated in Assam under the company is act, 1956 with an authorized capital of Rs. 50 cr. With the objective of installation of refinery having a crude processing capacity of 1 MMTPA.  Current capacity : 2.35MMTPA Numaligarh Refinery Limited (ASSAM ) : Numaligarh Refinery, popularly known as “Assam Accord Refinery” has been set up a grass root refinery at numaligarh with refining capacity of 3 MMTPA. Current capacity : 3 .00 MMTPA Products: LPG, Naphtha, Motor Spirit ( MS), Aviation Turbine Fuel (ATF) Superior Kerosene Oil ( SKO) High Speed Diesel (HSD), Raw Petroleum Coke ( RPC ) Calcined Petroleum Coke ( CPC) & Sulphur.   Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Ld., MRPL (KARNATAKA ) : Government approved on11.04.1991 the setting up a 3 MMTPA Oil Refinery at Mangalore at an estimated cost of Rs. 1160 cr. , including foreign exchanges component of Rs.300 cr. The capacity of the refinery was assessed at 3.69 MMTPA and has been further expanded to 9.69 MMTPA in September, 1999. Current capacity :15.00 MMTPA Products: Naphtha, Xylol ( Xylenes), Motor Spirit, High Speed Diesel, Furnace Oil, Bitumen, Pet Coke, Sulphur

9 Tatipaka Refinery, ONGC (AP ) : A mini refinery of ONGC with capacity of about 1 MMTPA with an approved cost of Rs.29.9 cr. was commissioned in September, 2001 at Tatipaka in East Godavari District of AP. Current Capacity: 0.07MMTPA Products : naptha , Superior Kerosene Oil (SKO), high-speed diesel (HSD) and low sulphur heavy stock (LSHS)    Haldia Refinery and Petrochemical Complex, IOC : The Haldia Refinery for the processing 2.5 MMTPA of middle East crude was commissioned in January, 1975. Current Capacity: 7.5MMTPA   Reliance Petroleum Limited, RPL (JAMNAGAR, GUJARAT ) : The private sector refinery was commissioned on 14 th July, 1999 with an installed capacity of 27 MMTPA at Jamnagar . On 25 December 2008, Reliance Petroleum Limited announced the commissioning of its refinery into a Special Economic Zone in Jamnagar, Gujarat, India. Currently it has aggregate refining capacity of 1.24 million barrels (197,000 m 3 ) of oil per day. Current Capacity: 60MMTPA Products : Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG ), Propylene, Naphtha, Gasoline, Jet /Aviation Turbine Fuel, Superior Kerosene Oil, High-Speed Diesel, Sulphur, Petroleum Coke.
