DEFINITIONS OF ‘’THE NEWS’’: :: News is about information and updating events. :: News by itself is not entertainment about current event but it does have to be made into interesting stories for the viewer. :: Good news stories are the based on other people’s mystery. Media news depends on negative happenings-otherwise we would not have anything to talk about. :: All news are pre packaged by publicity managers and spin doctors.

DIFINITIONS OF ‘’THE NEWS’’: :: Television news needs visuals and interview with eye witness accounts to make it seems real. :: News is about people; people stories interest viewers the most.

WHAT ARE NEWS VALUES ‘’News values are generally guideline or criteria used by media outlets, such as newspapers or broadcast media to determine hoe much prominence to give to a story. They are fundamental to understanding news production and the choices that editors and other journalist-face when deciding that one piece of information is news while other is not’’.

NEWS VALUE # 1 IMPACT: ‘’ The number of people whose lives with be influenced in some way by the subject of the story’’ FOR EXAMPLE The Asian Tsunami had more impact then a local flood.

NEWS VALUE # 2 CONTROVERSY ‘’Arguments, disagreements, debates, charges, countercharges and fight increase the value of news’’ FOR EXAMPLE Meera and Reema fought in awards show ceremony last night.
